Dungeons and Dragons Online - Image 1Remember a few days ago when we posted all about Dragonmarks going into development for Dungeons & Dragons Online? Here's an update on that, straight from community manager Samera. A look at the release notes for Update 4.1 was posted over the forums, by god, it's quite a pile of bug fixes and new features incorporated into the game.

One of the biggest news available in this update is the availability of a couple new quests on Solo mode: Freshen the Air, The Swiped Signet, Purge the Heretics, and Caged Trolls. Aside from this, general changes include:
  • NEW – Fixed an issue where players are seeing a message that says "Cleaning up old connections" indefinitely. The same message may still happen, but the player will be able to log in again normally within 10 minutes.
  • Resurrection Shrines now function in all ways like the Raise Dead spell. They will no longer drain the mana of a spellcaster that uses them, and restores people to life at 10% hit points rather than at 1 hit point. This is meant to address an imbalance between the effects of death for casters versus non-casters.
  • The Coin Lords have used a portion of their increased income from the Auction House to upgrade the elementals powering the teleporters in Stormreach. Each of the teleporters in the various House wards of the city now allow anyone using them to select their destination from any of the other teleporter locations in Stormreach.
  • NEW – Damage caused by a reduction in a character's Constitution score will now reduce the character's hitpoints directly. This damage is not applied to Temporary Hitpoints gained from such spells as False Life and Aid. Care should be taken when removing +Constitution items while at low hitpoint totals.
  • Once upon a time there was a mighty warrior who had a love pure and true. But then his beloved disappeared and the mighty warrior flew into a rage. Where had the object of his passion gone? The warrior embarked upon a heroic quest to find his lost love. For an entire year the warrior searched without any sign of his beloved. And then one day…..could it be? Yet this was a different sort of love – the mighty warrior's beloved had changed, but it was his love still, and a great happiness filled the dazed warrior.
  • You can now /point at things that are farther away than 30 meters.
That's just the tip of the iceberg. To see the entire release notes, click the Read link below.

Quest for the bestLet's say you're starting out in Stormreach, and you have no idea what to do. You could probably check everything out, perhaps even beg readers for help, but that might take more time than you'd care to use. Thankfully, the community managers at Turbine Inc. are offering the sticky of all stickies for people to check on the forums.

They've compiled a list of files, forum pages, and other assorted documents that people can read up on to help them get accustomed to the game.

Calling it the game guide index, there's info here for both newcomers and vets to use in Dungeons and Dragons Online. You'll be able to pick up everything from beginner's guides, quest lists, and class builds, as well as the math behind treasure spawns and armor class bonuses. They even have a handy FAQ for the lore surrounding the Eberron side of the Dungeons and Dragons franchise.

Take a look (click the "Read" link below). There's something for everyone there, even if you do happen to be one of those "smelly humans".
