World of Warcraft Rogue - Image 1Another bug report coming in, at least if you're a resident player at World of Warcraft's Public Test realms. Deceptionx reported via a thread that every time his rogue attempted to go into stealth, the game instead swapped the visuals for the mage's invisibility spell. Blizzard troubleshooter Hortus dropped by shortly to inform Deceptionx to do the following:

Please do not disable shaders, it is important that we identify this issue and eliminate it before the patch goes live. Deceptionx, can you please delete your wowtest folder from within the World of Warcraft directory and re-install the PTR client? Please post here if the issue continues or not.

At the time of this report, we haven't heard from either the poster or Hortus. In case the guys here are experiencing similar problems, we advise them to drop back in case this topic gets resolved. There's also the WoW thread via the source link if you're wondering what the other players had to say to help.

A beginner's primer for the Rogue on the WoW thread - Image 1If you've decided to roll a Rogue, you'll probably be overwhelmed by the talents available for your character. Picking the right ones is important since these talents dictate the efficiency of your character in Blizzard's World of Warcraft.

The proper selection of talents makes the difference between surviving and dying in the game. With that in mind, we'd like to direct you to a sticky from the official WoW Forums which details every single talent currently included in the Rogue's talent trees.

Each entry also has a
PvP rating, Solo PvE rating, Raid PvE rating, and some comments from the creator of the thread outlining its usefulness. Here's an example from the said post:

Cold Blood: When activated, increases the critical strike chance of your next offensive ability by 100%.

PvP rating: Excellent

Solo PvE rating: Decent

Raid PvE rating: Decent

Comment: Ah, Cold Blood - the very essence of burst on demand. An excellent key talent in whole, and useful for a wide range of abilities.

If you're interested to see the full list, head on over to the WoW Forum via our Read link to check it out.  The knowledge that can be found in that post will undoubtedly help you choose the best path for your Rogue.

Make love, not Warcraft - Image 1

Cancer and World of Warcraft - they seem to fit perfectly together. Back in May, a cancer patient had his dreams realized thanks to the WoW community. Today, right at this very moment, a valiant player is going through the ordeal of playing 120 hours straight to collect money for cancer research.

Going by the name Cowiee, this WoW citizen posted on the official WoW Europe forum about the mission to play non-stop for 120 hours. Success of this, as she (yes, she) claims, will garner around US$ 350 from sponsors.

Anyone can contact this heroic gamer on Xfire (account is "indigos"), or in WoW. Cowiee, an alliance rogue playing on Magtheridon, gets our salutations and support for saving others. May she be successful in her endeavors, and may no harm come to her through her efforts.

World of Warcraft: Rogue problems in the Arena addressed - Image 1Rogues, like most other classes in World of Warcraft have had their share of problems. A player on the WoW Europe Forums recently posted the top ten major problems regarding the class.

This is actually no surprise considering the impression that most players have regarding the Rogue's poor performance in the Arena.

Among the problems that were brought up include, the vanish bug, pets running after you in stealth, bad scaling of finishing moves, stealth, CloS not working while in fear or trapped, and lack of armor on leather.

Of course, the cries of the players didn't go unheard. Blizzard poster and forum moderator Vaneras addressed the issues in a rather long post.

Vanish isn't bugged and it is in fact working as intended, however it is affected by latency, which is what people perceives as being bugged. There are currently no plans for changing the way that Vanish works, which I most certainly know that you don't want to hear.

However that does not mean that the developers will dismiss these concerns, because if they find a proper way to address this issue, then such a solution will be implemented. But in regards to Rogue performance in the Arenas in general, this is something that the developers are looking into.

It looks like Blizzard is still looking for ways to address these problems. We here at QJ.NET are sure a lot of the Rogues out there would want an immediate solution, but it seems like it's not that simple. After all, the devs have to worry about game balance and other things before they do make a change.

Still, it would be great if they would speed it up a bit since a lot of players are getting very upset by these.

City of Heroes: Issue 10 now in open beta - Image 1

The latest expansion of NCSoft's City of Heroes/City of Villains Issue 10: Invasion has hit open beta. Those who have been keeping up would have probably been waiting for this event. The Rikti have returned and they're really pissed off.

Issue 10 starts with a World Event across numerous zones in both Paragon City and the Rogue Isles. The Rikti, armed with new and brutal weapons, seek to establish a beach head on Earth - whether its motive is to save the lost brethren or to finish the destruction of Earth is still unknown.

Fact of the matter is, Earth's mightiest heroes (villains too) are in for the fight of their lives and no, we're not talking about the Avengers. The expansion will offer players new threats, missions, and inventions, making the game more robust than before.

A good addition is the fact that both super villains and heroes can actually team-up to face these threats . One more thing that old time players should know is that the site of the Rikti crash zone has become a hotspot and is now being contested by Earth's defenders and the alien invaders, so might as well join the fight.

To access the Beta, click on our "Via" link and that should take you to the City of Heroes website where you'll find further instructions. If you want to see more of the new content, check out some of the screenshots, fresh from the front lines.

See the screenshots after the jump!

World of Warcraft's Warglaive of Azzinoth - Image 1Wouldn't it be great to wield a legendary weapon? Raiders not only get the prestige of getting first world kills, they also get the bragging rights of getting to hold (or be the first ones at least) legendary weapons from the big bosses in the World of Warcraft.

Well, Forte forged into the Black Temple and slew Illidan Stormrage. Nothing really interesting since they're the third guild to have downed the Betrayer, but lo and behold one of the loots they got: the Warglaive of Azzinoth. Cool, eh? They got the main hand one and they'll need to farm the off hand to get a complete set which even cooler with the set bonuses (chance to increase haste rating via melee attacks, and gives an increase in attack power against Demons).

Celalia, Forte's rogue, was the lucky basta- er... player who got the Warglaive. Hmm... One million points of cool go to him. Anyway, stay tuned as we bring more news on Blizzard's World of Warcraft.

Amazingly, even while some players find it hard to find purpose in their class due to Blizzard's class 'hybridization' complex, many of the speccers and builders in World of Warcraft seem to have a penchant for mixing and matching classes in The Burning Crusade and the original WoW content.

'Hybridizizing' hybrids in World of Warcraft - Image 1

Xdragonman of Zul'jin asked fellow players if they could combine two existing classes to identify those to classes and explain why. While games such as Dungeons & Dragons (especially those using the latest rules) allows players to "diversify" their class matrix, we couldn't see why a WoW player would want to blend their already-blended character into another one.

But true enough, some mixes of class do present interesting combinations, although a choice of skill specialization and your preferred gameplay would greatly define what you'd choose overall. Shamadins, Shadowlocks, Shalocks...heck, anything combined with Warlock basically including its opposite class, the Paladin are wishful choices for the hopeful PvPer.

But "hybridizing," as this blogger would coin it, might send your character back to concept classes from one other game - the motherlode, you might call it: Warcraft III. Let's be a little realistic here: combining hybrid classes to form new hybrid classes would probably end up something like what Wrathbringer of Mug'Thol suggested:

Rogue + Warlock = Demon Hunter
Priest + Hunter = Priestess of the Moon
Hunter + Warlock = Dark Ranger
Warrior + Hunter = Beastmaster
Warrior + Shaman = Far Seer
Paladin + Warlock = Death Knight

Sounds familiar?

Rogue sword spec (finally) fixed in 2.1 - Image 1There are three main trains of of thought when building a Rogue in Blizzard's World of Warcraft: Sword, Dagger or Fist. Barring some weird Rogue build, these three are the most prevalent and for some time "Fist" and "Dagger" Rogues have been winning out. With patch 2.1 however, the swordies may have a new lease on life.

While Sword Rogues are not inherently weak, some tweaks had to be made to make them more competitive. In an article on World of Ming, they pointed out two of the major sword buffs in 2.1: extra attack resetting auto timer bug fix and off hand attacks are now considered "yellow damage." While this may not mean a lot to non-Rogues out there, these two buffs can actually make the difference between living and dying.

First up, we have the bug fix. Now, the guys at Ming gave a very good example: if you are 0.5 second away from swinging your MH, and your sinister strike generates an extra attack, you get the full benefit of the extra attack, and your normal swing comes out right after. In a class where DPS and massive damage is your forte, this is just awesome.

The second point is the "Yellow damage", while extra attacks can only be dodged and parried, the Rogue no longer suffers from dual wield penalties. Add this to the fact that offhand sword procs trigger main-hand attacks and we have a winner.

Of course, these are not the only reasons that the swordies are back on everyone's radar. You can read more about it by clicking on our read link. We don't know about you guys, but we are beginning to consider the sword specced Rogue as our next project in PvP.
