One of Namco Bandai's bigger successes on Sony's PlayStation 2 is the .hack
video game series. For those not familiar with it, it is part of a much
larger multimedia franchise simply known as .hack that encompasses
manga, card games, anime, and most importantly , video games. With that in mind and knowing the success the franchise had and is still having, we can't imagine Namco Bandai stopping making games for the series in the near future. More on this after the jump. |

Hellgate: London, the upcoming online title from Electronic Arts, Namco Bandai and Flagship Studios, has finally gone gold. The game is currently on track to meet its October 31 U.S. release date and its November 2 European release date.Flagship Studios will also be releasing a single-player Hellgate: London demo tomorrow, October 18, on AOL's Game Daily (gamedaily.com). The demo will be available from other locations on Friday. The demo will let gamers choose to be Blademasters or Marksmen, two of the game's six classes. After choosing their character's class, gamers will then be able to battle through a small handful of storyline and side quests as they adventure through the streets and tunnels around London's Holborn Station. |

Namco Bandai and Flagship Studios have just released the UK packshot for their upcoming video game, Hellgate: London. Check it out by clicking the thumbnail on the right. That's a mean looking octopus with horns, or is it a demon with tentacles for a beard? Either way, it looks pretty scary - which is pretty much what Hellgate: London is all about. The game starts about eighteen years into the war with demons, and yes, we're sort of losing. You'll get to choose which faction you want to play for (Templar, Cabalist, and Hunter) and what type of fighter you want to play as (Blademaster, Guardian, Evoker, Summoner, Marksman, and Engineer). Anyway, expect Hellgate: London on the shelves this Halloween; as for UK, release is set for November 2. |

Ah, Covent Gardens - one of the major centers of activity in London, England. Here you'll see one of the busiest areas of the city, filled with night markets, famous landmarks, people and blood-thirsty zombies. Ok, barring the last one it's all there. However, the zombies you will definitely be seeing in Namco Bandai's Hellgate: London.
Here we have a video walkthrough of the different areas in the Covent Garden district. It has pretty much all the well known places there are in the area. Giving testament to the impressive visuals the game has, it gives life to famous places like the Kingsway station, Covent Market's night markets, the British Museum and many other places. Nevermind if the streets are littered with ungodly demons and the like, but I digress. We can all expect the release of this visually stunning MMORPG game by the end of October. Until then why not take a look at the video and enjoy your leisurely tour of Covent Gardens. |

Electronic Arts and Namco Bandai have officially announced the release date for their upcoming title Hellgate: London. Fittingly enough, the title is currently slated to hit retail stores on Halloween.Hellgate: London is an action-RPG combo that features dynamically generated levels, items, enemies and events for some great replay value. Players can also take the fight online, teaming up with friends to save London in a secure, client-server environment and playing through the entire story-driven campaign for free. Flagship Studios is also offering an optional subscription service which will give players access to huge amounts of content on an ongoing basis in the form of quests, character classes, demons, items and the like. More details about this aspect of the game are expected to come soon. North American gamers will be able to hack, slash and shoot their way through a demon-infested London on October 31, while those in Europe will be getting their own chance to kill some hellspawn on November 2. |

An interesting point has just been raised by players over at the official World of Warcraft community site. A lot of them are wondering if there's a possibility of Blizzard adding a "watch mode" at the Arena in the future. You know, players will come to the place not just to fight but just to also watch the best players slug it out. This, somewhat reminds me of the PlayStation 2 video game .hack G.U. To those not familiar with the title, it's a "simulated MMORPG" from Namco Bandai. In that game, there's a special server that caters to PvP environments much similar to WoW's Arena. The good thing about that server is that other players are encouraged to watch other matches. Anyway, the suggestion was really interesting and thankfully, it was picked up by Blizzard forum moderator Drysc. According to him, this feature has long been in Blizzard's mind. As much as they want to implement it in the near future, there are certain considerations to be made first, There's a lot of UI and technical development involved, and some hurdles to cross with how we would like such a feature be implemented. In any case it's something that's been kicked around since the inception of the Arena system, along with the possibility of replays, use of team flag designs, etc. This, when implemented, will really boost the popularity of WoW's Arena matches. Imagine high-end teams battling each other in a lie-or-die environment. We have to say that it's definitely worth watching, not to mention the fact that it will give winners a somewhat celebrity status. |
