Invite for Pirates of the Burning Sea House of Commons IRC chat - Image 1As video game enthusiasts and players ourselves, we definitely appreciate it when developers take time from their busy schedules and try to reach out to their fans as much as possible. Aside from knowing their needs and problems, this helps make fans even more loyal to the game or the company involved.

We brought the topic up because we just learned that Flying Lab Software will have a chat session (for a House of Commons) with Stratics and they want the players of MMO Pirates of the Burning Sea to be part of it.

The chat itself will take place later today (September 12) in the IRC channel of Stratics (#StraticsHoC) around 4:00 p.m Pacific. According to Flying Lab Software, fans can join them by by connecting to one of their IRC servers through the use of any IRC client.

Connect then to "irc.stratics.com" port 6668 or whichever server is more suitable:
  • stratics.frws.com port 6668, USA - Colorado
  • stratics.afraidyet.net port 6668, USA - Dallas
  • irc.glowfish.de port 6668, EU - Germany
  • irc.gamers-irc.org port 6668, USA - Colorado
  • irc.us.glowfish.de port 6668, USA – St. Louis
The developers will be discussing about the game during the chat session, as well as random general topics that should be of interest to gamers. More details can be found through our Read link below.

Chat screenshot from WoW Bash - Image 1

Thousands of funny conversations happen in the World of Warcraft every day. Just by looking at the multitude of available videos that can make anyone laugh, we know that plenty of humor can be found from millions of WoW citizens. To record the hilarity in the pages of history, someone going by the name Furism decided to make a website compiling all lulz-worthy conversations from any MMORPGs.

If Bash.org doesn't ring a bell, it's a long running website with the funniest message logs that come from IRC chats. In the same spirit, WoW Bash aims to put together a good collection of the most hilarious chat screenshots from WoW and other online games. Anyone can upload an entry, but it would probably go through some filters to ensure quality.

Head over to the Top 100 page to find the highest rated entries. Rest assured that you'll be laughing, unless you're not familiar with interactions on the web at all. Many of the conversations apply to other online games, so there's definitely something that will at least make you grin.

Pirates of the Burning Sea - Image 1

Here's a little heads up for the Pirates of the Burning Sea community. Most players might already know that the game has its own official IRC chat channel (it's been around since 2005, apparently, and grew out of a fan-created chat channel for the game).

For those new players that didn't know about it, this should be good news. The people running the official PotBS website have decided to once again invite players to join the channel and take part in the discussions that happen there. Here are the channel details for those IRC savvy players who have yet to check out the IRC channel:

Server: irc.coldfront.net port 6667 (7778 for SSL)
Channel: #burningsea

They've also posted a useful little how-to on connecting to the channel. If you aren't familiar with using IRC yet, you can check it out by clicking on the "read" link below. Flying Lab Software's Pirates of the Burning Sea is slated for release some time after this month.

Stratics chat with WoW Developers this May 21 - Image 1

For those who have questions for the developers of Blizzard's World of Warcraft, this is the perfect opportunity to be heard. Nethaera has recently given word that Lead designers Tom Chilton and Jeffery Kaplan will be available via Stratics to answer some questions on May 21 (moved from May 15) from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. PDT. The details are pretty much the same though, but in case you missed our previous article on this, here's a recap.

This won't be an open forum sort of thing as Stratics question takers will be collecting queries from players 48 hours before the scheduled chat. During the chat no questions will be accepted so don't expect to just be able to pop in and ask some. Attendees will be given the chance to chat with one another via a separate channel: #worldofwarcraft IRC room.

This is pretty big news since we're sure that a lot of people from the WoW community have a loads of questions that they feel need to be addressed by the developers. If you're interested, be sure to click on our read link which will take you to the Stratics WoW site for more details

chat - Image 1The postponed Stratics-organized chat with World of Warcraft developers has finally been given a new date: May 21. Since it's been delayed, Stratics has a few Question Takers up an running to gather whatever new questions WoW players want to ask the devs 48 hours before the chat. Here's how to submit one:

[QT]'s are Question Takers who also have operator status in the #StraticsHoC channel.  To submit your questions just type the following command:  /msg [QT]Bot# Question here. All questions will be recorded automatically, in order to ensure this please submit one question per line.

You can submit your questions at that time to any user with a [QT] in front of their name. Questions can only be submitted before the chat and not during, so you better start thinking about what you wanna ask. Those who want to join in can do so through IRC or by using a Java client. More details on how to join can be had through the WoW Stratics website.

WoW Stratics' invitation - Image 1 We're sure a lot of World of Warcraft players are brimming with questions to ask the Blizzard developers. Now instead of shooting the messengers - A.K.A. the Forum CMs, they can chat with the developers directly through WoW Stratics' IRC.

Lead designers Jeffrey Kaplan and Tom Chilton will be in attendance on the said event which will be held at the House of Commons channel (#StraticsHoC) on Tuesday, May 15, at 3 P.M. PDT. The Stratics team will compile the questions 48 hours ahead of time and will filter out spam (or not valid) and abusive questions. Hopefully this will be carefully organized so as many questions as possible may be answered.

And Stratics will be posting the log of the chat on the site for the benefit of those who can't attend the event. So, you got a question for the devs? Submit away.

World of Warcraft - Digg members agree that World of Warcraft players can't keep girlfriends. - Image 1

A big population of Digg members believe that any hardcore gamer can't keep girlfriends, but this stereotype was specifically aimed some time ago against one particular World of Warcraft gamer's girlfriend who baked him a sweet lookin' World of Warcraft-themed cake. There's a whole lotta lovin' in that couple.

But wait, for geeks who hang around a site checking out everything hot and burying what's not, haven't they heard of the couple who got hitched in World of Warcraft a couple of months back? Love, indeed, is everywhere, and World of Warcraft is no sloucher in that department.

If you sneak around the WoW Forums long enough or you're one to partake in Guild "convos" from all over, you could have been able to pick up a mention here or there about a couple hooking up. And don't get us started on how serious these relationships are. The phenomenon is abound in Yahoo!, it's common in iRC, and it's no stranger in World of Warcraft.

But still, why pick a bone with WoW players? Or have they got something sour about matters of the heart?

BCFor the guys who'd really, really like to get their hands on a WoW BC Beta key without the messy complications of stuffing a Blizzard dev into their car, driving to the local high-rise, and dangling the said dev by their toes over the roof edge until they gave one (You didn't hear that from us), we've just picked up news on an event that could make this easier for you.

The IncGamers IRC network has just announced that starting November 27, Monday, until Saturday, Dec. 2, they're going to be giving out free BC Beta key accounts to every 18 minutes at their IRC chatroom, and the winners will be chosen randomly via raffle event. To join the event, take note of the following steps, as stated over at the source link.

Now, for those who might miss out on this event, there's gonna be another in-game event that will be taking place on December 3, Sunday and December 4, Monday.

The events will organized within the IRC channel, and will give you guys a chance to win a further 100 more BC Beta Keys. Details will be coming out soon. For now, we recommend you read the source link.
