thumb - Image 1This is a category that's especially close to my heart, kudos to those who dared to risk all, who colored outside the lines and put the extra thinkin' effort into giving us something fresh.

Once again, a lot of our editors agreed on one very special title... Unreal Tournament III... just kidding!

Dark Age of Camelot EA Mythic MMORPG - Image 1Community Manager Missy Hatch has released information about the latest hotfixes, new equipment, and updates on the Halloween events in EA Mythic's MMORPG Dark Age of Camelot.

DAoC gamers might want to know that the old versions of the Infiltration quests have been disabled via a hotfix. Players who previously accepted the quest but haven't completed it should talk with their realm's Storyteller. The NPC will give them a new quest directing the players to the realm's capital. Once in the capital, they will be able to partake in the Infiltration quest.

Here are the other hotfixes implemented:
  • (Classic Servers) The Thane Dragon Armor reward table has been fixed.  The quest was giving out the entire armor set instead of offering the player a choice of the items each time they complete it.
  • The Midgard and Hibernia versions of Mission: Infiltration now display their waypoints correctly.
Current subscribers to the Dark Age of Camelot newsletter can now pick up a disguise potion from the Editor-In-Chief NPC in the capital cities. In addition, players who haven't received the original newsletter rewards consisting of a Realm Ability Respec Stone, Realm Specific Dragon's Revenge Themed Cloak, and random Trifecta Pet reward (levels 40 and up only) will be happy to know that they can still pick-up these items as well.

As for Halloween events, Campacorentin Station, Aegirhamn, and Mag Mell are now haunted. Hatch also gave word that players can now use most of the costume potions anywhere until the afternoon of November 1. Be advised though that the good pixie, evil pixie, ghost, and spirit potions are still subject to the guild/housing restrictions of use.

Judging from all the changes, EA Mythic must has been pretty busy sprucing up the MMORPG. If you have an active Dark Age of Camelot account, you might want to log on and try out all of the changes that were added recently.

Trick or Transmutation event comes to Lineage II - Image 1

NCsoft has just announced a new in-game event for MMORPG Lineage II. The event is called Trick or Transmutation and is a very well fitting celebration for the upcoming Halloween celebration. It will run from October 26 until November 6. Players who will engage in this activity are sure to get rare rewards.

Here's a little backgrounder for the MMORPG's Trick or Transmutation: Sir Edward the Alchemist has just finished his research on Philosopher's Stone creation. All the information are kept in the Alchemist's Chest but the keys to the chest were lost due to a recent monster attack. Other basic information include:
  • Players can learn about the Trick or Transmutation event by speaking to the Alchemist's Servitor.
  • The Alchemist's Chest Key drops during specific event drop times.
  • Once players have obtained an Alchemist's Chest Key, they can open one of the Alchemist's Chests that are situated around the Alchemist's Servitor. The Alchemist's Chests contain the items required to create a Philosopher's Stone.
  • Players must have all required Philosopher's Stone creation items and they must register the appropriate Transmutation Circle Recipe to their General Recipe Book in order to create the corresponding Philosopher's Stone.
  • Once players have created Philosopher's Stones, they can double-click the stones to receive random event rewards. The rewards vary depending on what color Philosopher's Stone you're using.
The Read link below will take you to Lineage II's official page for the event where you can learn more about drop times, prizes, and other event-related schedule.

Flagship Studios' Hellgate: London - Image 1Good news for folks who were hoping to get more freebies out of Flagship Studios' Hellgate: London. They've just announced that, contrary to earlier information given, Achievements in Hellgate: London will no longer be a subscriber-only feature. Instead, it'll be made available to everyone who's playing the MMORPG.

Not sure what these so called Achievements are for Hellgate: London? Then here's a quick recap: Achievements are long-term goals for players that can be unlocked through normal play. For example, after killing a certain number of zombies, your Achievement log shows a potential achievement for zombie killing that can be unlocked by killing more zombies. Rewards are numerous and varied, ranging from a tag you can add to your name to particle effects that can be made available for your character.

In any case, this news is certainly delightful, as it can motivate players to have more fun in the attempt to fulfill a goal they've set. Hellgate: London will be made available to players everywhere come Halloween.
