World of Warcraft's second expansion pack has sliced its way to second place in the UK charts, topped only by fellow newcomer, Call of Duty: World at War. In other news, LittleBigPlanet shot down form fourth place to 19th place. Ouch.

Let's take a short break from the Tokyo Game Show as we bring news to the MMO crowd. The first retail expansion pack to Lord of the Rings Online, Mines of Moria, has been given a release date. Expect it be available on November 18. Pre-order pricing details after the link.

Gotta love a media blitz! Today via press release, Funcom's let out a whole big batch (and by big, I mean "a huge number of" and "hugely insane resolutions of") screenshots, screenshots, and more screenshots for Age of Conan. We get to see the expansion teaser art too, as well as comparisons of Age of Conan on DirectX10 vs DirectX9. Plus a sneak peak at the free content that's coming within the next few months! It's thumbnail enlargement time!

Funcom has revealed a new teaser image forAge of Conan's first ever expansion pack that's set to be released next year. The concept art itself won't be released until tomorrow, but Eurogamer did give a description of what the concept art shows. Check it out in the full article.

Codemasters has been releasing info for a few weeks now in anticipation of the release of the Book 12 expansion pack for Lord of the Rings Online: Shadows of Angmar. Now the wait is almost over as Book 12 will be released in a matter of days. Details in the full article.

EVE Online has just confirmed that the release date for the Trinity expansion pack is still on schedule for its December 5 release. They also inform gamers that the new content is now available on the test servers for "those who can't wait." More info at the full article.

A bunch of new screenshots and concept art have arrived for EverQuest II's upcoming expansion pack, Rise of Kunark. In the screenshots we are shown creatures and landscapes both friendly and aggressive, beautiful and terrible.

Some of the landscapes have a heavy influence from the cultures of Asia, while others simply show off a grand display of nature's claws. More pictures are also offered for Timorous Deep. The creature arts also show some classic creatures such as the Wyvern and the Giant Leech.

With the release of the first Guild Wars expansion pack drawing ever nearer, ArenaNet has announced a new platinum pack that will include the original Guild Wars game as well as the Eye of the North expansion pack.

This is good news for those who have yet to get into the Guild Wars experience. The Eye of the North expansion pack requires players to own at least one of the three earlier Guild Wars campaigns, so what better way to start than with the first one? It's also a perfect jump off point for getting into the upcoming Guild Wars 2.

We couldn't find any pricing information on the Guild Wars Platinum Edition just yet, so keep checking back here on out MMORPG blog for more updates. We expect it to be out around the time of Eye of the North's release this month, though. You can check out the UK packshot on the right so you know what to look for.

The biggest thing to hit the fantasy world of Vana'diel to date is the imminent release of Final Fantasy XI expansion Wings of the Goddess. In relation to this, Square Enix announced today the release of a Starter Pack that will definitely entice non-players to step into this magical world.

The Final Fantasy XI Starter Pack is just for the PC version of the game and not for the Xbox 360 one. It should contain the PlayOnline Viewer, Tetra Master online card game, and the original Final Fantasy XI software.

Aside from this, those who are going to purchase the pack will be entitled to a one-month free trial of the MMO video game.

"We are confident that this release, coupled with recent gameplay changes and the forthcoming Wings of the Goddess expansion pack will encourage even more to try what is an exciting and prolific online experience," commented Square Enix Ltd. President and CEO John Yamamoto.

The Final Fantasy XI Starter Pack will be sold for just 4.99 GBP or around US$ 10.23.
