Lego Universe NetDevil - Image 1On the last Lego Universe update, we've mentioned that Lego is planning to offer a service that will let gamers order a real-life version of their virtual Lego creations, to be delivered straight to their doorstep. Now we learn that it isn't such a new thing and that Lego already had that concept in mind long ago. Read more about it in the full article!

Habbo Hotel - Image 1Virtual item stealing isn't limited to only uber-powered weapons and equipment in MMORPGs. A group of teenagers were charged for stealing virtual furniture in Habbo Hotel, which amounts to 4,000 Euros or about US$ 5,800. Yes, forget about the fancy-shmancy blades and armor, because stealing furniture is in. Read on to find out more.

Getting to pre-order your copy of Hellgate: London might be trickier for some of you. Not all regions will be having the same kind of bonuses as others would. For one, the Collector's Edition for the game will not be available for the whole of Europe. Those who want to score the bag of goodies included in the Collector's Edition (e.g. the soundtrack, extra artwork, a graphic novel, etc.) are advised to import their copy of the game from the US.

Hellgate: London - Image 1Meanwhile, pre-orders for the regular edition are well underway. Pre-ordering your copy gives you access to some in-game goodies: Dye Kits, Founders Offer, etc. Different countries will have different video game retailers participating in the pre-order campaign. Here's a full list of regions and their participating retailer(s):
  • Germany - Gamestop
  • Switzerland - World of Games
  • Poland - Gram.pl and Ultima
  • Finland - Tilt
  • Sweden - GAME, EB Games/Gamestop
  • Norway - GAME, EB Games/Gamestop
  • Denmark - GAME, EB Games/Gamestop
Unfortunately for the UK, no retailers will be participating in the promotion. Yes, you can still pre-order the game (via HMV, Play, Amazon, or Game) but you won't be able to get the Dye Kit offer.

populated enough to be a country - Image 1Hmm, how many subscribers does Blizzard have for WoW? Eight million right? And still counting. If the World of Warcraft was a country, it would be the 94th most populated country in the world.

The nation of WoW p'wns the following countries in terms of population: Ireland (4,062,235), New Zealand (4,076,140), Denmark (5,450,661), Israel (6,352,117), and Switzerland (7,523,934). Since Azeroth has something that would equal to an open city policy, it doesn't require a visa or a passport to be a citizen. All you need is a flexible schedule, a flexible income and a flexible PC (read: more than acceptable specs).

With the addition of Outland via The Burning Crusade, who knows just how many more people Blizzard was able to pull in to testify unwavering faith to the Horde or the Alliance. And it's a true melting pot of a country, with ten races and all: Draenei, Dwarf, Gnome, Human, Night Elf, Blood Elf, Orc, Tauren, Troll, and Undead.

Oh, and did we mention Azeroth's population swells at a rate of around 406 people (or whatever race they choose) per hour?

This is just pathetic. Dump her before she dumps you, fool! - Image 1I feel it in my fingers, I feel it in my toes
(unless you're Undead, which means you can't feel a doggone thing)
Love is all around me, and so the feeling grows...

More craziness abounds. Blizzard announces to the community that something smells rotten in Denmark Azeroth this season, and stink, thy name is LOVE. The phenom, which happens in major cities in World of Warcraft, is literally called Love is in the Air.

Love is in the Air, hanging around major cities from February 11-15, features a scavenger hunt quest involving the use of perfumes, gifts, and a goblin by the name of Kwee Q. Peddlefeet that you could kiss. The Via Link contains the deets, but we'll mention two important things to remember about Love is in the Air:
(In other news: The Scourge shall be screening the Mandy Moore/Shane West weeper A Walk to Remember on Valentine's Day to see which of the Undead still have a heart. Those found shedding tears at the end of the movie shall be killed, again and again if necessary, until the desired result is achieved. Long Live Arthas! Of course, we're only kidding on this one.)

Is it just me, or did Warcraft become sissified? Double dibs on the hot lady in blue, though. Wanna PvP tonight, baby? - Image 1Is it just me, or did Warcraft become sissified? OH NOES! A delay! We wish there were less rumors today and more press releases. Makes writing a lot easier, and keeps us from wetting our pants in anticipation. Well, alright... the wetting pants thing is just me. Stupid Halo 3 tease.

ANYWAY. Sources in different places have been coming up with a rumor that the expansion pack for World of Warcraft will be delayed for 2007. Now, there isn't actually any specific release date for The Burning Crusade to begin with, but everyone and his grandmother is expecting to be in the Outlands by Christmas (GameSpot gives a November 2006 release date).

As far as we can tell, the source of this commotion seems to be someone by the name of LarzJG, and has reached actiontrip.com and the worldofwar forums through it. While the basic information talks about it from a European point of view, and thus a European-specific delay, if Blizzard was intending a worldwide release, then any confirmation of the release being pushed back to 2007 means everyone's going to have to wait. Of course, Vivendi SA is a video game developer; formerly known as Vivendi Universal">Vivendi Denmark has no comment, so we'll have to wait for any official comment to come our way, but right now, an actual delay be as depressing as a death in the family.

In any case, if you'd like to track the different sources, just follow our source link. Let us know if you find something new about this rumor, and we'll make sure to give you props for hunting down the truth. Till we know more, though, I'll just twiddle my thumbs and pray.

Blizzard Costume Contest

Halloween's just around the corner, and Blizzard's celebrating it too, with an interesting gaming twist! Blizzard's giving out Blizzards iPods to five lucky winners of the Blizzard Costume Contest, which is already ongoing.

Want to join? Well, if you're aged 15 and up, and happens to be residing in the specified countries (take a look at the bottom of the article), then just dress up as your favorite Blizzard character (any Blizzard game will do) and send in your photo via email. You need to take two pictures of yourself, one prior to the Blizzard character makeover (meaning, you should be in normal clothes), and another when you're in full Blizzard-character garb. Errr no, photoshoppery is banned in this contest, so stay away from photo modifications, alright?

All photos are to be submitted through the Contest Submission page, so better bookmark it now if you intend to join. They're accepting entries until November 1 only, so better get your creative juices flowing before Halloween. Want to know whether you're eligible or not? Check out the list below:
  • Participants aged 15 or more residing in:
    • France
    • Belgium
    • United Kingdom
    • Luxembourg
  • Participants aged 18 or more residing in:
Remember, this is a Blizzard Costume Contest, so stray away from that Spongebob Squarepants costume of yours, alright?
