World of Warcraft from Blizzard - Image 1Just because a feature hasn't been implemented in an MMORPG doesn't mean it never will be. A prime example for this came up recently in the World of Warcraft forums, regarding the much-debated and awaited for Guild and Player Housing feature. Details in the full article.

World of Warcraft - Image 1 Some MMORPGs like World of Warcraft can immerse players so far into their worlds that they stay for an indefinite period of time, and the things you acquire in the game take on a sentimental value.

Blizzard Poster Bornakk suggests in the World of Warcraft forums that there must come a time in every gamer's life when they have to move on. Fair enough considering that if you always keep everything sentimental to you, you'll always be running out of space. Bornakk also says that the Guild Banks will help with storing items in WoW's Patch 2.3.

WoW Battle Chest: WoW, TBC, and more for US$ 39.99 in October - Image 1Pricing and release date for new the World of Warcraft expansion Wrath of the Lich King are still not being discussed by Blizzard but marketing efforts are certainly in full swing now. However, we have to take into consideration that there are some gamers who have yet to give The Burning Crusade a try.

This exact concern was brought up by some players over at the official WoW Forums as they ask whether a price cut is being planned for The Burning Crusade. Forum moderator Bornakk was able to pick up the thread and explained that a price cut is being planned indeed.

According to him, Blizzard will be releasing a bundle October 2 to be known as World of Warcraft Battle Chest. Bornakk further explained the details:

The World of Warcraft Battle Chest combines the DVD versions of World of Warcraft and the game's first expansion, The Burning Crusade, with the BradyGames strategy guides for both titles all in one package. At a suggested retail price of $39.99, this will be a great value for anyone looking to begin their World of Warcraft experience.

This certainly is a good strategy from Blizzard to further increase WoW's user base before the release of Wrath of the Lich King.

Blizzard's World of Warcraft comes up with some new changes in the latest PTR patch - Image 1

I'm pretty sure this scenario's happened to you already: you're spending a leisurely flight around Azeroth when you suddenly realize that you've inadvertently wandered into the border of Skettis. You hear an annoying squawk just before a giant feathered thing suddenly dive bombs you from out of nowhere and dazes you before you plummet to your doom.

Well, here's a bit of good news about our hateful avian friends. According to the latest PTR patch for Blizzard's World of Warcraft, killing the Monstrous Kaliri won't be a totally pointless endeavor from now on as they finally have drops assigned to them upon their death. At least now you can seek vengeance on those overgrown owls and at the same time find a bit of satisfaction to it as you loot their bodies.

Still it doesn't change the fact how annoying those avian beasts can be. Apparently even the guys at Blizzard don't like them. Blizzard poster Bornakk had this amusing quip to say about the Kaliris: "These birds can be pretty frustrating, but they are watching their eggs being constantly blown up. Can you blame them for defending their territory with parries and squawks?"

World of Warcraft Burning Crusade logo - Image 1

You've got to hand it to a successful gaming giant like Blizzard. They incorporate unique and dynamic game mechanics that keep players wanting more. The set equipment pieces weren't exactly something new (originally taken from Diablo 2, also by Blizzard), but it definitely keeps the gamers obsessed with questing and collecting to complete their ideal sets for their characters.

Lately, old players in the forums have been calling out the return of the eight piece sets, which were godly in comparison to the current sets floating around World of Warcraft. However, such a comeback seems unlikely to happen as Blizzard poster Bornakk stated:

The problem with a big eight piece armor set is that it may cause someone to ignore an item that would be great for them as they are focused on the specific items that will get their set bonus. With the 5 piece sets, players are able to mix and match pieces to fit their style of play better or even help out for the specific encounter they are at. At this time we are happy with the itemization that the 5 piece armor sets offer and plan to continue implementing them.

So it's flexibility rather than power on the part of the Blizzard team. On many aspects, this opens up the possibility for players not to get "stuck" with merely just one kind of set equipment and thrust into the role of a niche character. So while nobody may be seeing Judgment make a comeback any time soon, everyone will have to be content with the current five-some piece sets in the meantime.

Pets in World of Warcraft - Image 1

Poster Ashanial in the World of Warcraft forums recently posted a very good suggestion about non-combat pets. Of course, while it's much more of a want for a differently-colored whelpling that's a non-combat pet, it does raise a few questions on whether or not Blizzard is planning to put in more creatures that you'll be able to tame and take care for in the digital realms of World of Warcraft. After all, going solo can sometimes be lonely.

Thankfully, Blizzard poster Bornakk was there with the prompt answer, and while he didn't really reveal anything new or give away a hint, he did get our spirits up. His post, unedited and as is:

We currently don’t have any finalized details to share regarding non-combat pets that we will add to the game. But we do plan to continue putting these fun companions into the world for players to look for and add to their petting zoo. :)

There you have it. There's no battle plan hammered out yet, but there are plans to. Here's hoping that we do get more non-combat pet types that we can all dote on and show off to our guildmates.

WoW Strider clutchmother rare pet - Image 1A couple of months ago, Blizzard quick-fixed World of Warcraft such that every time a player mounted their steed, any pet they had on hand disappears. And while this was mostly a cosmetic fix, it appears that some players are missing the days when their prized companion rode alongside them as they travelled.

That's the topic of a thread by Niblur, who further asked if Blizzard was planning to do anything about their current mechanics. Blue-texter Bornakk dropped by later to provide for this explanation:

Having the pet disappear when mounted resolved a number of issues people were experiencing and we are happy with how it has been working. No one likes an exhausted pet, so this way the pet shows up by your side and is ready to growl, bite, cleave, or torment (among other things) right after you dismount.

There is always a possibility of changing this again, but we currently have no plans to do so.

What sort of issues, you ask? Players like Moonvibe stated that it gave hunters an element of surprise. Anybody that dared plotted to attack one in PvP would have to second-guess what sort of pet they had at their command. On a more practical note, others agreed with Bornakk's point - the pets would be kept fresh and ready for combat, instead of being exhausted from their run. In case you've been keeping watch over this old issue, we do hope Blizzard's official comment has clarified on this matter.
