Superannuation is reporting that Blizzard filed three trademark registrations for the title "Cataclysm". What is it? Nobody knows for sure yet, but the trademark did indicate that it covers "computer games, paper-based products (comic books, trading cards, coloring books), and online games." Sounds like they're getting ready to build a merchandising empire with this one.

Sony is taking credit for the existence of the hottest MMORPG around, World of Warcraft, saying that had it not been for their Everquest, WoW would not have existed to wow the gaming world as it does today. Lead designer Ryan Barker shares some choice words on the matter.

A new patch for Blizzard's ever popular MMO game World of Warcraft is now available. WoW Client Patch 3.1.3 is mostly a class balancing patch with some more bug fixes. Read more to see the full changes.

An MMO GTA? Can you imagine that? Janco Partners is certainly imagining it as it ponders on Take-Two Interactive's prospects at acquisition. Mike Hickey is of the opinion that given the proven success of the franchise, the company is a very enticing candidate for future acquisition.

Heads up World of Warcraft players, Blizzard has just released Patch 3.1.2 earlier today. The new patch adds the much awaited in-game equipment manager feature for the game. Blizzard has already announced that BlizzCon 2009 attendees will be getting a new pet, and today we finally get to see what it is: a Murloc Marine named Grunty. Check out a video of this little critter after the jump.

Get your wallets ready, Blizzard fans. Tickets for this year's BlizzCon will be going on sale next Sunday, May 16, and you better have some cash on hand. Blizzard has dropped a pretty little trailer for World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King's patch 3.1. The trailer focuses on the titan city Ulduar and the impending release of Yogg-Saron, the Old God of death imprisoned within the city. It's pure machinima, but it's impressive nonetheless. Blizzard has set May 19 as the deadline for any add-on devs to comply with the company's new add-on development policy which prohibits add-on authors from charging for their add-ons and from soliciting for any donations in-game, among other things.

Patch 3.1 for Blizzard's World of Warcraft is definitely coming soon - "promptly," in fact, as blue poster Wryxian said. The Dual spec patch has been the source of much excitement and anticipation among WoW players, although some are left in doubt due to "lack of info" on it. Wryxian, however, responds to that, saying: "The patch is definitely coming... shortly."
