Mu Online - Image 1MU Online was first released in South Korea in 2003, and because of its success, publisher K2 Network decided to market it worldwide under the banner Global MU Online. The game is basically, about this lost continent of Mu, which is pretty much like Atlantis. A great war destroyed all of its rulers, and it is now up to the players to restore order.

Anyway, K2 Network just announced that it will be releasing the first ever expansion, Cry Wolf, on March 27. Cry Wolf will only be available for premium users, so sorry free players. K2 has cited a list of improvements which will be made possible by the expansion:
  • Explore Aida and the Fortress of Cry Wolf. Adventure and quest your way in Aida to level 380 and prepare for the Fortress of Cry Wolf.
  • The ability to build and ride the powerful wolf Fenrir plus unique weapons and armor sets for each class.
  • Never before seen monsters and NPCs including Werewolves, Witch Queens, Death Trees and Dark Elves.
K2 also added that a bi-weekly Cry Wolf event will be held. A total of 1,500 humans and elves will fight against the Kundun and their tyrannical boss Balgass. Global MU Online: Cry Wolf will be available for download in Europe, North America, and South America, so watch out for it.

Missy Hatch has probably become on of the household names for Dark Age of Camelot players. What with the constant updates she brings (along with Miss Sanya Thomas if I might add), she's one woman who instantly draws Minotaur players' attention.

But enough with the girl talk, let's get to the release notes now, shall we? Alright, for this patch Mythics brings us new things and more bug fixes to further improve your Minotaur gameplay. Included in the 1.86 release notes are the following fixes:
  • The /ignore command works once again.
  • The ignore list is now displayed alphabetically.
  • Players may now add as many people to the ignore list as they want. It was previously limited to 50 names.
As for new Frontiers notes, Missy says that the realm guards at the Labyrinth entrances won't follow you around the island anymore, and will now rely on their archery skills to ward off enemies. The world notes for Trials of Atlantis also dons a few changes: in Secrets of Naxos, Nikoda's note can now be used by either the /use command or by dragging the Read button from the mini-delve window to your quickbar and then clicking it.

After a one-week delay, Sanya Thomas of Dark Ages of Camelot has finally posted the release notes for Labyrinth of the Minotaur's Test Version 1.86h. There's not a lot of new stuff added, but they did fix a lot of glitches in the game to make your gameplay easier. Here are the tweaks and fixes they did:

Bug fixes:

  • Pets will now break their controllers' stealth when they attack something
  • Emotes that deal with mounts are now gramatically (and politically) correct; they now use the appropriate pronouns
  • Some spell effects won't display properly because they fixed a bug while using the Atlantis client
  • Pets will now move with their controllers through Teleporters (excluding hard load teleports)
  • The problem of loading tips not displaying correctly at lower resolutions has been fixed
  • Keeps and towers are now properly colored when shown on the realmwar map
For Camelot Classic:
  • Quests - Albion
  • The quest level of Outcast Ormgarth was increased to level 25
COOPERATIVE and PVP SERVER: New trainers on Ruins of Atlantis: Valkyrie, Warlock, Bainshee, and Vampiir.

So far, those are the only things that the dev team was able to fix and add to the test version but they will continue working on it should you guys report any more glitches and flaws in the test version so if you encounter any bugs or glitches, make sure you inform them so they can fix it. We'll keep you posted on more Camelot developments so make sure you check back with us, alrighty?

Goa'uld Storm

Our solar system has experienced some major changes recently, and there couldn't be a better time to develop am extensive science fiction media franchise like Stargate into a game, aptly titled Stargate Worlds. Well, maybe that wasn't exactly what Lead Systems Designer David “Zeb” Cook and the Cheyenne Mountain team had in mind, but if the shoe fits right?

The original Stargate film that starred Kurt Russell as Col. Jonathan "Jack" O'Neil, out to save the world from alien invasion and mass destruction, has spawned the longest running Sci-Fi series in history; Stargate SG-1 that starred Richard Dean Anderson of MacGyver fame, Stargate Atlantis and a cartoon series called Stargate Infinity.

Here's an excerpt of the interview with Cook.

Q: Stargate SG-1 is now the longest running Sci-Fi television series in history – it has more than ten seasons plus a successful spin-off series. There’s no question you have a lot of universe to build a game around, but what material have you decided to include and exclude thus far into the development process?

David “Zeb” Cook: Since we are still quite early in the process, there are a lot of unknowns, so getting specific is pretty tough to do. Most of our effort right now is in hammering down just what will make sure the game is Stargate SG-1 – how can we capture the tone of the writing, tell stories that feel right for the world, and give players roles that are Stargate-ish. That’s far more important at this stage – the answers to those questions will guide us to the content from the series that best makes the game.
So, at this point, nothing is absolutely excluded – although some material is far more likely than others. We have a not-so short list of things that MUST be in the game. (Most of this is horribly obvious – Stargates, humans, Jaffa, etc.) After that comes the list of things we really WANT and plan to include. THEN, beyond that is the list of things that would be nice but is not something we see as crucial.

The full interview is available via the read link. Meanwhile here are some concept art to get you excited about the game.

MinotaurLast time, Electronic Arts Mythic gave us some new info regarding the much-awaited MMORPG Dark Age of Camelot: Labyrinth of the Minotaur. We really liked the idea that we'd be going through a large maze with a cute little Clockwork Kitten. We wonder if she needs any springy yarn or something to play with. Although the most awaited character is the Minotaur; an extremely powerful playable character. See, the image? He's holding a two-handed axe with one hand! He's that strong.

So we were looking for any new info regarding this game and we saw an interview Director of Community Relations Sanya Thomas. When asked why they decided to do a cross-realm class/race game expansion, she said that it gives them new ways of exploring possible storylines in the future. It can make players think of other ways of fighting/working/interacting with others in the game.

As for the Minotaur, holding the two-handed axe with one hand? She was a bit unsure of that one; looks like a no-comment statement to us. Uh-oh. Changes may ne in the works for this one. One teeny-weeny bit of advice though: Don't fix something that ain't broken.

Regarding the new class-the Mauler, she's saving any more info on the Las Vegas Roundtable. The Maze itself is the main bad guy in this game, not the monsters in it. Not that much with Boss Monsters. We're speculating that it might include a lot of deathtraps and secret trapdoors and the like. Hmmm...seems good in the beginning but can it sustain interest in the game? Remember, it's all speculation, folks.

A story-driven content does not mean a Trials of Atlantis II, she says. Good, the last thing we need is a copycat.

daocIt's time for another round of Dark Age of Camelot updates. The DAoC team had been busy with the usual bug fixes and changes in gameplay features. To start off, Bolts have been changed to make sure they hit a target in combat, unless the target is being melee attached by an enemy within a range of 200 units. If such cases, there's a 20% chance of failure for each attacker. Also, NPCs are given some due recognition with specialty titles. These titles are reserved for NPCs providing special services: Realm Point Removers, Trifecta Dealers, and Dread Seal Merchants.

Over at the New Frontiers, gatekeepers and guards at the Hibernian portal keep to match the new graphics/layout (for Pendragon). The Ancient Hermit in Cathal Valley has been itemized.  On the Hounds of Arawn front, members who are not on the quest will now be teleported to the correct locations.

That's barely half of what the DAoC team had posted. So,  just click on the  "Read" link to read more of the updates on Trials of Atlantis, class changes and fixes, and co-op server notes.
