Apparently, scientists have been able to do something simply astounding with Linden Labs' MMOPRG. They were able to create artificial life in the form of a child-like intelligence in Second Life, named Eddie. Read more on this by heading over to the full article. |

Analyst Rhian Hibner was on gaming news the other day and he brings with him some unfriendly comments for the upcoming PSP title Family Guy and the rest of the industry. We are not quite familiar with this guy Hibner but fortunately, stalwarts of the industry are just around the corner and are ready to defend the kingdom.Accordingly, Hibner had seen the PSP title and thought it was poorly produced. He then made some rants and uttered baseless and hasty generalizations. NCSoft former employee Brian Plauche couldn't agree less with Hibner as he wrote: "To use one game to make blanket comments regarding the industry displays ignorance regarding modern games. I can say with confidence that he is completely out of touch with the industry." Plauche then reiterated that graphics is not just as simple as 1-2-3. It is actually composed of entwined features such as dynamic lighting, world size, sound, musical score, story line, artificial intelligence, environment interaction and physics. Plauche even went further by saying: "Physics and interaction with artificial environments are such important developments that soon players will have to add a physics card to their computers just to ensure the game can be played properly." In the end, the former NCSoft employee couldn't help but praise the Splinter Cell franchise and Halo on X360 and upcoming MMO Tabula Rasa. The X360 titles according to him have penetrated unprecedented levels and are only possible with the hardware in next-generation consoles. Lastly, Tabula Rasa was given the thumbs up for revolutionizing MMORPG titles by skipping grinding and just enjoy game play. |

In case you guys haven't checked, The Chronicle did a major overhaul on their website, and it now comes loaded with new stuff you wouldn't want to miss. We did a quick tour and saw that they have just dished out tons of concept art, screenshots, model shots, and we also found out that in the very near future, they would also start featuring player races. From the website itself, you'll find everything you need to know about the game world, EAI (Emergent Artificial Intelligence) system, game interface, chat and communications system, character creation, inventory, factions and guilds, player skills, crafting, loot and looting, PvP and combat, questing, and so on, as well as information about how to pre-order the game. The Chronicle team also announces the Scavenger Hunt contest that they will be holding, where the first player to complete the Hunt will win 1 out of 50 Beta slots. This contest is held at MMOCenter.com, so just check them out via the source link below for more details about the hunt. The game is still its Beta stage, obviously, and for this reason we're still in the dark as to how the storyline has evolved, especially after such a long time that we didn't hear from the guys at The Chronicle headquarters. But because we now know that there's new content courtesy of the groundbreaking EAI, it's so tempting to keep watch. Take a peek at the concept art straight from The Chronicle site. More updates soon, so stay tuned! |
