Vanguard - Image 1The third Game Update for SOE's Vanguard: Saga of Heroes has its players excited for some raiding action. Surely, lots of areas in Telon are going to be experiencing some overhauls, especially with regards to the quests that'll become available. They'll be accessible to Level 11 players, but they're actually built for Level 16. If you haven't gone that far, then there's no hurt in trying.

What you guys might want to be aware of is the struggle between the Ksaravi and Khal. See, while the Ksaravi are plotting to wipe out the Khal with the use of alchemic poisons, you'll be needing the help of the White Coronaria priests to drive them back.

With the magic of the priests, you take your stand on Ksavari Gulch. If all else fails, there's Captain Venir Isthir to send some aid... i.e. wyverns. Hellsyeah. Ksavari Gulch will temporarily give you access to a wyvern mount. More treasures await you once Game Update 3 kicks in, but for now, at least the second update still has us busy with all the Resting going on.

Guild halls in Vanguard: Saga of Heroes - Image 1 Guild halls in Vanguard: Saga of Heroes - Image 2

As those of us who make it a part of our daily videogaming jaunts to explore the digital realms of Sony Online Entertainment's Vanguard: Saga of Heroes, we all know about the recent update that lets anyone with the resources to make their very own Guild Halls. This little news item talks about two of Telon's finer Guild Halls, namely the Large Thestran Guild Hall and Large Qualian Guild Hall.

First up to be explored is the Old Timers Guild's crib, tucked away neatly near a coastline. Prime waterfront property indeed, as not only does it give a fantastic view of the sea, but also makes sure that any sea-borne threat doesn't go unnoticed by the guild's many vigilant pairs of eyes. Of course, with the Guild Hall itself still being relatively new, its interiors haven't yet been furnished completely yet, save for candles and the occasional chair.

The next Guild Hall to be rooted around in is no other than the Large Qualian Guild Hall of Divinus. Where the Old Timers' Guild Hall was all sharp angles and lines, Divinus' Guild Hall has more curves to it, giving it a friendlier look. The interior of the Hall is also similarly warm and welcoming, with the floor tiles glowing with the shine of mellow candlelight. One could even compare it to a castle rather than a hall for hardened warriors.

With the ability of being able to make such grandiose pieces of scenery, it's no wonder Guild Halls are popping up all over the place, on all servers. We can only wonder what other unique structures we'll be able to see as the guild hall constructions get into full swing. Updates as we get them, and you can check out more screenshots of the guild halls explored in this article via the read link below.

Vanguard: Saga of Heroes - Ulvari - Image 1

Sigil Games' Vanguard: Saga of Heroes features the fantasy world of Telon, where there are three continents namely: Kojan, Qalia, and Thestra. And since we're featuring just one creature, we'll be checking out one of the creatures of the Kojan continent- the corrupted Ulvari.

The Ulvari came to Telon as they were pursuing the Raki, foxmen of Caal Briel. The Raki's world was destroyed by the Ulvari, who seeped magic away from the land and its people. Now that they've in Kojan, they're threatening to do the same thing. The Ulvari can be found throughout Kojan but is heavily concentrated on the Blighted Islands. They've started to invade Kojan by corrupting the high government official and have reportedly laid Tanku under siege. The only reason why the city hasn't fallen is because of the protection of a powerful artifact.

There are those who fight against them, the dream-warriors of the Aurora family and Lao'Jin. Among the Ulvari's followers are the worshipers of Ra'Jin and according to rumors, even the emperor himself. How will the heroes and villains of Kojan settle the fight? We'll find out in the long run.

Vanguard: Saga of Heroes' Ulvari are both proficient in the use of magic and battle, with different Ulvari showing themselves across the mid-to-high levels. Take note of their armor, however, as those will also help you get the upper hand. The ones wearing the sakkat (coolie hat or conical bamboo hat) are magic wielders and the ones wearing heavy armor are surely melee. Check them out on Kojan, and do your part in stemming the Ulvari invasion.

So you want to cruise the seas or just play pirate? In the world of Telon, it seems that every sort of transportation is available - from flying mounts to player crafted boats.

Sigil's Vanguard: Saga of Heroes features three spheres of advancement, on of them crafting. Ships vary from one-man boats for coastal cruising to seafaring ships that can carry a number of players. Ships are customizable with an option of prows and colors - makes for around 100 possible looks.

Oh, and each continent has a different boat style so you can choose between a galleon looking type of ship to a boat with mammoth tusks. Or the ones with oriental sails. All those boats, and so little time. Anyway, enjoy the video!

Vanguard: Saga of Heroes' world of Telon is too damn big to be walking around in. You've got to make sure that your travel options aren't just limited to your own two feet (or keyboard and mouse, depending on how you look at it). Unless you want death by iron-braced footwear, flying mounts are always going to be a godsend - sometimes maybe even literally.

Telon gives you the opportunity to fly around and explore the world more on various mounts that can fly. Dragons, Wyverns, and Pegasus...es. Yet another flying mount is the Griffin. No, not Kathy Griffin from "Pulp Fiction" - we're talking about the griffin-Griffin from mythological fiction.

Check out those powerful wings, robust chest muscles, and cute button eyes...

Now that you've seen the screens for the vast expanse that is Telon, we're sure you're all psyched to see even more nooks and crannies of the places you'll get to explore in Sigil Games' Vanguard: Saga of Heroes.

Well sure, we've given you videos of the game, like the one that shows the Pegasus and Wyrm in flight and the video of undead giants (that's undead AND giants). But like most hardcore Vanguard fanatics, we're pretty sure those aren't enough to satisfy your appetites. Like every video and batch of screens we churn out are like appetizers? So even though we know that there's still nothing like seeing these goodies on your screens once the game comes out later this month, we're still gonna take a crack at satisfying your seemingly unsatiable appetites.

So with that, we'll leave you with this video called Companions of Telon made by Leonard Gullo II, with Todd Masten pitching in his melodies for the background music. Enjoy!

Wyrm...not wormSony Online Entertainment's just released a set of videos for their Vanguards: Saga of Heroes MMORPG. These clips will be dealing with one of the game's better ways to travel: Flying mounts.

For players wondering when they can grab one of these two-winged beasts, the game mechanics currently allow only level 45 and above to ride in Telon's wild blue yonder. The game's currently in its Beta Testing stage, and will be expected to launch on the first quarter of 2007.

For now, we'll be be covering the Pegasus and the Wyrm. For the guys looking for a more scenic, dirt-free way to travel around Telon, enjoy the vids.

The other video awaits after this jump!
