NCSoft has indicated that fans of its Guild Wars MMORPG may have to wait a couple more years until they get their hands on Guild Wars 2. The final retail version, anyway, as a closed beta could begin next year.

MMO makers are in a bit of hot water right now. A bunch of them, including heavyweights Blizzard, Sony, and NCSoft, are currently being sued by a New York company for alleged patent infringement. While patent lawsuits have become an almost everyday thing, this one is noteworthy in its scope and that the complainant is PalTalk, who successfully forced Microsoft to settle a US$ 90 million lawsuit over the same patents earlier this year.

The surprises just kept coming from GamesCom 2009, this time around from NCSoft and ArenaNet. To attendees' pleasant surprise, they actually brought -- and showed -- the new teaser trailer for Guild Wars 2. It's been a long time cooking hush-hush, but now we get to see it.

There's an announcement made today by NCsoft NorCal">Paragon Studios for their MMORPG game City of Heroes. According to the press wire sent out, the game will have a new expansion pack entitled "Going Rogue".

lWhen Richard Garriott parted ways with Tabula Rasa developer and publisher NCSoft last year, he spoke rather amicably enough about the company. Something must have happened over the past few months, then, since it's been revealed that Garriott is now suing NCSoft.

As of today, NCSoft's MMORPG franchise Guild Wars has broken the six million sales mark. That's a LOT of copies sold. In line with this milestone, ArenaNet has released a major content update that includes new quest content and extra storage options.

Did you know that the EverQuest MMORPG for the PlayStation 2 is still running? Did you even know it existed? Anyway, that's besides the point. Those who missed out on the PS2 version might get a chance to experience it on this get. SOE has suggested the franchise might find its way to the PlayStation 3.

NCsoft is officially the latest company to bow out of the ranks of the Entertainment Software Association, once again putting the future of E3 into question. How many more publishers have to leave before you make E3 public again, ESA? What about the children? Won't anyone think of the children!

Richard Garriott's Tabula Rasa will officially end its live services on February 28. Can't say I wasn't expecting this, especially after Richard Garriott announced his plans to leave NCSoft earlier this month. It looks like NCsoft will be literally taking the kid gloves off in terms of its focus in the MMO genre.
