Guild Wars 2 - Image 1NCSoft has indicated that fans of its Guild Wars MMORPG may have to wait a couple more years until they get their hands on Guild Wars 2. The final retail version, anyway, as a closed beta could begin next year.

Lawsuit! - Image 1MMO makers are in a bit of hot water right now. A bunch of them, including heavyweights Blizzard, Sony, and NCSoft, are currently being sued by a New York company for alleged patent infringement. While patent lawsuits have become an almost everyday thing, this one is noteworthy in its scope and that the complainant is PalTalk, who successfully forced Microsoft to settle a US$ 90 million lawsuit over the same patents earlier this year.

Something must have happened over the past few months, then, since it's been revealed that Garriott is now suing NCSoft.

SOE: EverQuest Franchise possible on the PS3 - Image 1 Did you know that the EverQuest MMORPG for the PlayStation 2 is still running? Did you even know it existed? Anyway, that's besides the point. NCsoft pulls out of ESA - Image 1 NCsoft is officially the latest company to bow out of the ranks of the Entertainment Software Association, once again putting the future of E3 into question. How many more publishers have to leave before you make E3 public again, ESA? What about the children? Won't anyone think of the children!

Tabula Rasa shutting down on February 28, 2009 - Image 1Richard Garriott's Tabula Rasa will officially end its live services on February 28. Can't say I wasn't expecting this, especially after Richard Garriott announced his plans to leave NCSoft earlier this month. Players get some measure of consolation when the servers will be free to play starting January 10. Details after the link.

In an interview conducted by Kotaku with NC West president of publishing David Reid, he mentioned that they will be redoubling their efforts on large, triple-A MMO titles from now on.
