Yes folks, it's just one more week to go
before Leipzig runs abuzz with various entities in the game industry.
The Games Convention Developer's Conference (GCDC) and Games Convention
(GC) is taking a hint from this year's Game Developers' Conference, and
organizers expecting to be the biggest gaming event in Europe - all by itself.
Correspondents from The Official Weblog for GC 2007 Leipzig have stepped into the massive Exhibition Center to investigate just how big GC 2007 may be in a week. And if organizer Leipziger Messe's announcements weren't ambitious enough, publishers and developers have been busy at work to make their presence just as significant as the European-centered event. They've identified stands from Sony (lots of them, plus a whirpool generator?), Electronic Arts, Midway, Blizzard Entertainment, Codemasters, Saber Interactive, GOA, EA Mythic, Global Star Publishing, and LucasArts, among others. There are stands in the event that have yet to be assembled, but that's subject to change in the coming days. Don't expect Nintendo to make a showing, though. Further upping the ante is the presence of WAR Senior Producer Jeff Hickmann and Creative Director Paul Barnett. The pair will be talking about several WAR-related topics at the Leipzig event, including an unveiling of the secrets of the elves. On a more general note, GOA is also expecting to feature its other new titles at the event - keep in touch in case we pick up more info on this. The GOA booth is located at stand A20 in Hall 3. According to their recent press release, registration for their closed beta began on May 30 and players were eager to get in on the game. The 200,000th registered gamer for the closed beta signed up over that same weekend, making the beta test phase of WAR one of the fastest-growing beta tests in the history of RPGs. The development team was more than pleased with the results of the sign-ups. Said Mark Jacobs, VP and General Manager of EA Mythic, We would like to thank the community for their tremendous response to Warhammer Online. The overwhelming worldwide response to beta test has been phenomenal. The team has been working incredibly hard on creating a genre-defining experience, and the beta sign-ups certainly validate the direction we're taking the game. Player input and testing will be crucial in our efforts to complete the game, and we look forward to beta participants' help in shaping Warhammer Online. |

Producer Walt Yarbrough said, "This expansion is a great way to celebrate the fifth anniversary of Dark Age of Camelot. Labyrinth of the Minotaur is rich with new content and adds exciting new features to the game that will challenge players. If you haven’t done so already, now is the time to lose yourself in Dark Age of Camelot!" And because celebrating DAoC's anniversary doesn't require buying chocolates, flowers, or jewelry, it's also a cheaper alternative to V-day. |
