EverQuest - Image 1EverQuest senior producer Clint Worley of Sony Online Entertainment is announcing that there's going to be a new server ruleset for the EQ fans. The decision for the new EQ ruleset was based on a poll which ended the other week - see, developers do listen! The new server ruleset now allows players to create level 50 characters for some high-end content on the get-go. Though this seems to be the most requested item on the poll, things don't seem to be all that peachy in terms of progression - progression server, that is.

SOE will be releasing EverQuest Anniversary Edition to celebrate the video game's 8th birthday - Image 1Did you know that EverQuest celebrated its 8th birthday last March 16? To celebrate the occasion, Sony Online Entertainment (SOE) will be releasing a new compilation for the glorious MMO video game. Fans can only purchase it at several participating locations for US$ 19.99.

"After eight successful years of EverQuest, we wanted to celebrate with the release of a very special Anniversary Edition, which consists of all the expansions ever created for EverQuest, including the most recently released expansion The Buried Sea," remarked EQ Producer Clint Worley.

Including The Buried Sea, EQ has a total of 13 expansions to date, with each one allowing players to choose from 16 different races and 16 unique classes. The EverQuest Anniversary Edition will feature a total of 375 explorable zones and roughly around 50,000 items for all fans to collect, use, and enjoy.

Aside from the new compilation, SOE also announced that a handful of in-game content will be made available for current players such as Luclin Fabled NPCs, a new scavenger hunt for players of all levels, and the return of the Fabled fiends of years past. Worley then added, "The Anniversary Edition is not only chock-full of content, but priced to allow players both old and new to join in the online experience known as EverQuest."

FirionaIt's a good thing to know that even though EverQuest II is doing excellent, fans have never forgotten about the original EverQuest. As it is, the game boasts of a good number of followers who began to become a cult in their own right. Anyway, Sony Online Entertainment knows this perfectly well and that is why they continue to update the game.

Like this time for example. SOE just announced that they will be releasing EQ expansion The Buried Sea this coming February 13. It can be purchased exclusively online for US$ 29.99. This release is actually the 13th in eight years for EverQuest and the first one for newly appointed SOE Producer Clint Worley. He exclaimed:

As the new producer on EverQuest, I am very excited to have this tremendous opportunity to work on such a storied franchise, as well as be part of a development team that has delivered successful expansions time and time again over the past eight years for our many loyal EQ players.

Aside from sporting new in-game contents such as items and weapons, The Buried Sea features the following changes:
  • Ship-to-Ship Combat: Cross the plank and fight for your life on the open seas as you raid pirate vessels.
  • Two Paths of Advancement: Battle pirates on the open seas or dive deep beneath the sea to Katta Castrum, lost stronghold of the Combine Empire.
  • New Missions: Take your group through more than 60 challenging new missions ranging from defending merchant vessels against marauding pirates to uncovering the secrets behind the combine city and the danger that threatens it.
  • Guild Banners: Design a guild emblem and display it with pride. Upgrade your banner to grant your guild special abilities and plant it on the field of battle so your fellow guild members can teleport directly to it.
  • Fellowships: Get together with a group of your closest friends and start your own fellowship. You can join in a common chat channel, gain the ability to create a campfire that can help you in your adventures, and get a token that will let you quickly travel to your other fellowship members.
  • Energeian Items: Utilizing ancient Combine technology, gain access to a new inventory slot that can be fitted with an Energeian power source and armor that can tap into the energy held within! The armor gains power based on the type of energy in the power source, so you can quickly customize the effects of your armor by changing the power source.
