Here's a short list of some of the more important changes in the game.
  • The final chapter in the Treasures of Aht Urhgan missions has been added.
  • The Chocobo Circuit has opened!
  • Players now have the opportunity to attain the new mercenary rank of First Lieutenant and gain access to new items purchasable with Imperial Standing credits.
  • The following adjustments have been made to two-handed weapons:
    • Two-handed weapons will now receive larger benefits from a character’s attributes, and will also inflict more damage when facing higher-level opponents or enemies with high defense.
    • A new type of equipment known as "grips" can now be equipped in the sub-weapon slot while using a two-handed weapon.
      • Grips cannot be used without a two-handed weapon equipped in the main weapon slot.

Chocobetting! - Image 1

Place your chocobets folks! It's time for an actual day at the races! The folks at PlayOnline have announced the final version of chocobo racing for Final Fantasy XI gamers, and it's called the Chocobo Circuit.

According to this new announcement, this final update for chocobo racing will allow players to race against other player-controlled chocobos. This new racing system will give players victory points, which can be used to gain access to higher-staked races and better loot.

PlayOnline will also be introducing the chocobet systyem into the game sometime this month. The chocobet system will allow players to place gil as a bet on chocobos of their choice. It's definitely an interesting alternative to fighting for money, at least!

In any case, if you want to get more information on what the races have to offer now, feel free to visit the read link below. Enjoy your game, and have fun at the races, alright?

New missions will of course be included in the update, and text display issues during chocobo races will also be addressed. In addition, players will also be able to get condensed updates from trainers. Players will also be able to feed their chocobos with multiple servings once the update goes live.

Speaking of chocobos, Choco-gals will also begin offering chocobo rentals from the teleport crystals in the Eastern Altepa desert, the Yhoator Jungle, and from the leypoint in the WaENom Woodlands. New NPCs have also been stationed in Bastok, San d'Oria and Windurst offering transportation to Aht Urhgan Whitegate. Of course, it's not free, but the fee will reportedly be minimal.

The level restriction on players allowed to use the outpost teleportation services located in Bastok, Windurst, and San d'Oria will be lowered. A fee adjustment is also being considered.

Night in Fantasia 2007 official image - Image 1 For those who haven't booked a flight to Australia yet, then the people from Eminence Orchestra would like to remind you that you still have some time left to go ahead and do so. After all, one of the most popular video game orchestral performances is headed for Sydney and Melbourne in merely a week. That's right, in case you forgot, Eminence Symphony Orchestra's A Night in Fantasia 2007 - Symphonic Games Edition, will be making waves in the Land of the Koalas, via their proven musical talent as well as their skill in performing the music from video games that we know and love.

Set to make an appearance in Sydney on April 20 and 21, then in Melbourne on April 27, the 60-piece orchesrtra will be accompanied by a 30-piece choir and will be conducted by Philip Chu. Meanwhile, tunes that fans can look forward to will include classic video game themes from titles such as Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasy XII, FF Tactics and the rest of the FF series, Chrono Trigger, Xenogears, Shadow of the Colossus, Tales of Legendia, Metal Gear Solid, WoW: The Burning Crusade, Super Mario Brothers and Legend of Zelda, to name just a few.

Those who want a seat for the show can either order their tickets online via TicketMaster, or those who will be seeing the Sydney performance can simply drop by the local Kinokuniya store.

Now, there's just one song request that I'd like to make... please, please, please play Radical Dreamers from Chrono Cross. Either that, or I'll be happy with whatever Chocobo theme that they put in there. So with the days ticking away until the performance begins, what song would you want to hear the Eminence folks play?

Chocobos. No, they're not ostriches.Chocobos abound! Chocobo fanatics are in for a lot of fun stuff when December's version update for Final Fantasy XI rolls out. There's a whole lot of Chocobo-centric stuff included in the update, and Kamp Kweh is just one of them. "Kweh" is the sound chocobos make, by the way.

Personally I think it would've been better if they called it Camp Big Bird or something, but that would've resulted in a few lawsuits so maybe Kamp Kweh is the way to go.

Anyway, Kamp Kweh is a place where adventurers can bring their chocobos to interact with others, as well as view the conditions of the other participants' animals. Yep, when the update hits, you can now head on over to Kamp Kweh to show off your chocobo and laugh at others' inferior mounts.

The Chocobo Hot and Cold Game also makes an appearance in the coming update. Remember this game? I used to spend days just playing it in Final Fantasy VII. The way the game is played in FFXI is a bit different from FFVII, so here's how you go about it:

How to Participate
First speak to one of the VCS representatives stationed in Bastok, San d'Oria, or Windurst. After an explanation of the rules, the representative will give you a chocograph with the name of several areas on it, as well as a clump of Tandjana wildgrass, used to call your chocobo in the field. Note the following important items:
  • Your chocobo must be registered before participating.
  • You must possess the maps of the areas listed on the Chocographs.
  • After using a clump of Tandjana wildgrass, you must let your chocobo rest 24 hours before receiving a new one.
How to Play
  1. Use the Tandjana wildgrass in one of the areas designated on your chocograph.
  2. Once your chocobo arrives, your map will open and a marker (???) will indicate the general location of a hidden treasure coffer.
  3. Ride your chocobo to the vicinity of the marker and dig. Depending on the relative distance you are from the coffer, your chocobo will react differently.
  4. Your chocobo will tire after a certain number of digs. The game is over when you find the treasure or if your animal becomes too fatigued to dig anymore.
