Hellgate: London Xfire chat session transcript - Image 1The Xfire chat for MMORPG Hellgate: London took place yesterday as expected and the fine folks from Flagship Studios has been very accommodating. The game has been officially launched and despite some early problems, the overall feedback from the community has been positive.

A lot of questions were raised but some that caught our attention include the problems of players with Hellgate: London's seemingly limited environment. Flagship Studios CEO Bill Roper took the question and reminded everyone about the patch:

Believe it or not, there are more diverse areas in Hellgate: London than there were in Diablo II. Think about the second Act in D2. Sand. Lots of Sand. And a star chamber. And then some underground sand. We do a lot more to diversify our acts, and the patch that is available on day one (well, today) goes a long way to theming acts better so that you can get a better feel for that diversity.

When asked about the MMORPG'ss plans on guild systems, Flagship's Senior Community Manager Kaiser Hwang explained that the guild system has already been introduced with Patch 0. The official added that while they have a lot of unique ideas of their own regarding the feature, they would want to hear what the community wants.

Aside from already mentioned, the chat covered a lot of all other things including game design, marketing efforts, future plans, and whatnot. To read the whole transcript of the chat session, click the Read link below.

Hellgate London - Image 1Bill Roper, CEO of Flagship Studios, has announced that Flagship Studios' Hellgate: London is now officially live. With Hellgate: London servers up, and regular and Collector's Edition boxes arriving in store shelves and mailboxes around the world, Mr. Roper also took the time to thank those who made the development and distribution of Flagship Studios' MMORPG possible.

In his official statement, Roper acknowledged the fact that the support of fans, publishing partners, and the respective families and significant others of the members of the Flagship Studios team was what helped Hellgate: London make it this far. Mr. Roper appreciated the fact that these people stuck it out with them and helped them turn their Hellgate: London into something bigger than what they had originally planned the game to be.

With all the nifty stuff that the developers have planned for the future of Hellgate: London, it's nice to know that Flagship Studios hasn't forgotten about the folks who have kept them (and will continue to keep them) afloat as they strive to carve their own niche the highly-competitive MMORPG market.

A demon from Hellgate London - Image 1Bill Roper, CEO of Flagship Studios, recently talked about the future of Flagship Studios' apocalyptic MMORPG, Hellgate: London. Aside from keeping the game interesting, Mr. Roper mentioned that the changes were simply Flagship Studios' way of responding to the feedback and the criticism they've received from Hellgate: London players.

Mr. Roper mentioned a variety of new content that players would be encountering in the near future: a new hub (Stonehenge), potentially new character classes, All Hallows' Eve and Guy Fawkes Night-themed content and possible plans for retail expansion.

While all these tweaks are important in themselves, Roper admitted that the bigger priority is keeping both subscribing and non-subscribing players happy. Flagship Studios hopes to achieve this delicate balance by making the broader game-wide features available to both parties (e.g. free-for-all PvP, auction houses, in-game mail, etc.) while giving subscribers a greater level of control over these. For instance, all Hellgate: London players may join guilds, but only subscribers may establish guilds of their own.

While any Hellgate: London beta player will tell you that the game is far from perfect, it's partly because the game is still a work in progress. The important thing is that, for the most part, Flagship Studios appears to be willing to learn from their mistakes and to correct them.
