With all the dedication and effort Webzen America is putting into Soul of the Ultimate Nation (Sun), it is such a shame we haven't quite updated our SUN database. It is a good thing the Director of Corporate Communications for Webzen Jason Wonacott was at hand recently to give updates.
The last thing we reported about SUN was about its Beta testing phase in Korea. Wonacott happily shares the game is doing very well - explaining that in Korea, a title that has reached Beta phase is as good as a launched game already. SUN will then be opened to China first, before finally reaching North American shores. Wonacott further explains that the American title will not be just a simple translation of the Asian Market version. According to him, one of the mistakes that some games make is they merely provide a translation of their games from one language to another. In the process, the translated version appears weird and at worst, the context and story totally lost. The key here, he stresses, is “Localization and culturalization." SUN currently employs the point and click movement, as well as the WSAD movement. The North American release is expected around summer of 2007 |

Webzen, the creator of the Diablo-wannabe MMORPG, MU Online, has announced that the open beta for Soul of the Ultimate Nation, or SUN for short, is going to be delayed. Their original plan was to launch it on May 2 but it was pushed to May 15 due to the fact they want the Mission Competing System complete. There would be a 2nd pre-open beta testing date on May 8 to May 12. In Webzen CEO Nam Ju Kim own words:“After the success of MU, as a leading company in this industry, we want to continue to lead the next generation games through SUN. Even taking into consideration all the risks associated with the service delay, we believe that through these new contents, we will be able to satisfy all the SUN users with high anticipation. In the open beta test, players will have a spacious field map with a detailed quest system. Besides the typical missions and PvP, SUN has a survival mode that enables the player to compete with each other to survive. There is also a Time Attack mode where a player hunts down as many monsters in a given number of time. Due to this intense competition, there would be a ranking system to determine who is the best. If the user isn't the competitive kind, SUN introduces the Area Conquest System that makes the player get benefits whenever he contributes in a particular area. All in all, Webzen is getting ready for the open beta and will unleash Soul of the Ultimate Nation on May 15. |

The popular Korean MMO Soul of the Ultimate Nation (SUN) is scheduled to be released sometime this year in Europe and in the US. SUN is created by Webzen and is supposedly different from the rest of the existing MMOs. SUN tries to capitalize on the epic story of the game. Initially the player has to choose which character he'll be playing: Elementalist, Berserker, Valkyrie or the Dragon Knight. The character you've chosen will have to build an alliance with the rebel Indus and go against the emperor of Blandis, Emperor Schwarz. Those familiar with Guild Wars will feel right at home with the small groups and instances will be de rigueur. Towns will feel very MMO like with everyone running around, then breaking in off into 5 man groups for "instanced" play. Soul of the Ultimate nation is scheduled for release September 2006. |
