Joymax, developer and publisher of the Silk Road Online MMORPG, has recently announced that players may avail of new items for their Silkroad Online characters. Joymax has put these items up for sale alongside the pets on the Silkroad Online item mall.

Independent game developer Joymax has announced that a new update is coming to enrich its massively multiplayer online offering Silkroad Online. The update mainly features four new pets to aid players in their adventures and a cool potion that will enable the players to boost their pets.

These pets include four cool animals in the form of a Cat, a Penguin, a Tiger, and a Rhinoceros. All four have unique functions which will come handy in various situations. Particularly, they are:

• Cat - An ability pet, the cat aids players by automatically picking up items within range and storing them in its own inventory slots. Ability pets are available for four weeks at a time and cannot be killed in combat.
  
• Penguin - Growth pets like the penguin provide assistance during battle. At level 40, the penguin will evolve into its final evolutionary stage, proving deadly to any enemies. Like other growth pets, when the penguin is killed, it can be revived with the grass of life.
  
• Fierce Tiger - The tiger is the finest vehicle pet available, and can carry the player across the Silk Road faster than any horses.
  
• Five Horned Rhinoceros - Transport pets like the rhinoceros help traders carry goods during trade runs. With increased speed and hit points, the rhinoceros can survive even the most treacherous routes.
  

In addition to these critters, there will be a special potion players can use just for them. The potion will increase the rate by which the pets will gain experience points so they can level up faster and become even more useful. Pets will be available at Silkroad Online's item mall. Game and Game World Champion 2007 (GNGWC2007) has just wrapped up the European leg of its online game tournament series and is now heading for American shores. The last of the square-offs was concluded in Leipzig's Game Convention 2007, yielding regional champions.

GNGWC2007 is the world’s first MMO e-sports global league that has attracted 150,000 participants across Europe. This month, it will start preliminary matches in North America and East Asia. The registration for the respective events are already underway.

Titles such as Bomb N' Flash, Silkroad Online, and Shot Online were among the MMO games played where gamers showed off their skills. Winners took home tickets to the grand finals which are set to take place in South Korea after all the preliminaries.

A representative for the event's sponsor, Korea IT Industry Promotion Agency (KIPA), commented on the recently-concluded European leg of the tourney:
