Gather 'round, people, we have three and a half minutes of brand new Savage 2: A Tortured Soul video goodness today thanks to the newest trailer released by developer S2 Games.

This trailer is loaded from beginning to end with never-before-seen action, including clips featuring the awesome, massive Behemoth from the Beast Horde. It also includes a look at the melee battle interface, as well as perspectives from both the Commander and Soldier gameplay viewpoint.

Don't just take my word for it, though. Check out the YouTube vid that dedicated YouTuber remicia has graciously uploaded below and bask in the action of Savage 2: A Tortured Soul.

Savage 2: A Tortured Soul
is the highly anticipated sequel to independent developer S2 Games' first PC title, Savage: The Battle for Newerth. Poised to set new standards and trends in online multiplayer gaming, Savage 2: A Tortured Soul will hit stores later this year.

We were a bit confused at first if Savage 2: A Tortured Soul is an FPS, an RPG, or a RTS? It certainly has different elements to it. We had to go to the old articles to learn more about this game to be able to write it better. It is a "strategy" shooter set in an RPG setting. Unique to say the least.

This sequel features enhanced character mods, high animation quality, realistic water effects, and dynamic moving shadows. The gameplay has a good melee system, FPS action, and a spell-casting system. Let's wait for the November release to see how this combination of different genre affects the gaming landscape.

To showcase the uniqueness of this game, S2 Games has released six new screenshots of the game. Enjoy!

Savage - Commander Mode

See, there's this cool RTS-FPS hybrid called Savage. In Savage, you can either play as a commander of your armies in an RTS mode, killing your enemies with the might of your armies, or as one of your soldiers or beasts, working like a first-person assassin/sniper/clawed monstrosity.

In preparation for Savage 2: A Tortured Soul, S2 Games is now offering the original Savage as a free download. By free, we mean without any cost, and by download we mean the ENTIRE game, plus a user-made game enhancement. Now that's a great way to advertise an upcoming game... it's quite unexpected that someone would give out a previous version of a game before they even finished beta-testing the new one.

A couple of notes, though. The full version of Savage: The Battle for Newerth is a Windows-only download, and you'll have to download the patch/expansion separately. Both are free, however, so it's not that bad. One other thing you'll have to remember is that there's a difference between Savage 2, and Savage 2.00. The first would be the upcoming game, and the other is the patched version of Savage: The Battle for Newerth. In any case, it's a pretty good free alternative for people who like real-time strategy games and PVP play, so you can safely call it an MMORTSFPSRPG if you wanted. Enjoy!

For those of you who want to desperately get into the S2 beta, all you need to do is pre-order your copy of the game. Pre-ordering S2 will give you instant beta qualification and allow you to help shape the final product of the game; the pre-order costs $29.99. Savage 2: A Tortured Soul features persistent items (which means that you can store dropped items, rare or not, and use them for later matches), persistent experience (which means that you can use your account anywhere at any time), commanders, officers, action players, and soul collecting. S2 uses a different style of play and should be prove to be interesting and fun.
