The last time we've been in touch with Rappelz' Game Master Tanda was a few months ago when he enlightened us with the game's specifics. Now, if you've been amazed with the game's Hindu-style trailer, this piece of tidbit is going to make you one happy camper. GM Tanda hooked us up with game updates with regards to the release of Rappelz Epic III Expansion. This labor of love from the Rappelz team represents their largest addition of new game content and new features. The expansion will be available to play for free on December 20. Yes, it may not be as big as WoW's Burning Crusade, but then again, great things start from small beginnings. So just what new stuff would you enjoy and encounter in the game's expansion? For starters, players will encounter new challenges and dangers in the form of new areas, quests, new dungeons for lower level users, never-before-seen monsters/raid bosses, among other things. Gameplay speed has also been increased so as the game would have a more fast-paced and action-oriented feel. For the spendthrifts, the best part of this expansion could be the fact that all in-game prices of equipments have been lowered. Yup, every day will seem to be a Sale day. There are also additional new items like helms and cloaks. Aside from that, immorality point decreasing items is bound to spice up PvP actions. If you're a Beatles-fanatic like this writer here, you're also probably tempted to sing the part in the Beatles' "Across the Universe" song that goes "Jai Guru Deva Om..." Although we can only guess what that phrase really means, at least we know now what the Hindu word Deva means, thanks to Gala-net's fantasy MMO, Rappelz.
Say what? You don't know what Deva means? Tsk tsk tsk. Then you should be reading up on the game 'coz Rappelz will have Deva as the goddess of light, along with Asura, who represents darkness. Although in Sanskrit, Deva literally means god or deity (or angel, if you will), in Rappelz, Deva comes off as the meanie because the Gaia (humans) will be battling it out with the hordes that Deva and Asura have sent to destroy them all. And to get a preview of all the Gaia action against the mad hordes of Deva and Asura, here's an action-packed trailer showing tons of battle sequences that'll surely pique your interest. You might have to bear with the cheesy music (with the obvious intention of making the video all grandiose and epic) but the action sequences and effects are top notch. Rappelz should be making its way to your PCs on December 31st, so while waiting, getta load of all the action and watch the trailer right here. Enjoy! |

The free Korean MMORPG Rappelz is going live on November 3, and fans will be able to take full advantage of the Free 2 Play MMORPG loosely based on Hindu mythology in a basic deathmatch. If you're wondering why, it's because God of Extinction Asura and God of Creation Deva believe that humans (Gaia) are too ignorant for their own good, that's why they send their hordes to destroy them. Basically, all three races have a Warrior class, a Mage class, and a Summoner class who are all involved in immersive online battles. Sounding like your kind of thing? Yeah, we probably lost you after the free to play part, but here's a bit of news that should keep the game in your list of games to play: This weekend publishers Gala-Net will be hosting a Halloween event this weekend along with the launch of Rappelz, so along with the excitement of the new game you can have a bit of fun trick or treating! They haven't revealed what kind of Halloween treats will be in store for gamers yet though, so make sure you stay tuned to QJ for the latest news. Remember, if you want to get a sneak peek at Rappelz before it's launch you should download the beta version and try out Dungeon Siege system which allows you to compete with other guilds to conquer and rule your own dungeons. How cool is that? |

Beta Testing,

Most MMO fans have probably heard of Rappelz, the new fantasy title from Gala-net. Yep, we're talking about MMO with the Hindu twist. As the plot goes, Gaia (humans) are assisted by the Deva (light) and Asura (darkness). However, a witch appeared one day and well, basically ruined everything. She was burned alive, like most witch executions go, and everything went back to normal. Not! Before she died, the witch said that the history of Gaia is screwed. Of course, she died eventually, so people didn't get to know if what she said was true or not. However, it seems that a "witch cult" emerged, and some Gaia attempted to decipher the mystery of the witch's words. And so the adventure begins. Beta testing for this game is now open, which is good news for those who are eager to join the game. Fans who downloaded the closed beta client don't need to worry, as they can access the open beta already, minus the re-downloading fuss. Cool, eh? |

With the open beta just around the corner for Rappelz, we certainly can not turn a blind eye on the updates being made on this promising MMORPG. That is why we are sharing you this recent interview with the game's head, Game Master Tanda. Before anything else though, we remind everyone that the open beta begins October 2 and the game goes officially online in November. This new fantasy MMORPG from Gala-net is loosely based from the Hindu mythology. God of Extinction Asura and God of Creation Deva believe that humans (Gaia) are too ignorant for their own good, that's why they sent their hordes to destroy them. Basically, all three races have a Warrior class, Mage class and Summoner class. According to Tanda ,the most appealing facet of Rappelz is the pet system. "There are many types of pets. Some pets do melee damage, some cast healing spells, some are tanks, etc. Pets level up with players and can learn skills. You can also equip your pets with equipment to boost their stats." Also Tanda reveals that this feature is geared to draw in more female gamers. Playing in different servers have varied implications as well. Experience loss will be suffered if killed by a monster in both PvE and PvP servers. However, being killed by player incurs no experience loss in a PvE server but it is otherwise in a PVP environment. Also, PK-ing someone gains you immorality points. Too much of these result to reduced movement and attack speed and other stat losses.Tanda then commented on how other MMORPGs are beginning to feel like work already. "The game should be fun enough and advancement quick enough so playing does not feel like work. We believe the gameplay and the quest and stamina systems will help alleviate the grind." The stamina system helps more casual players keep up with more hard core players. Finally, Rappelz is free to play and Tanda promises that it will remain that way.. |

The closed beta for Rappelz will end on Tuesday, September 26th at 9 p.m. Pacific time US. For those having a hard time calculating what time that will be in their localities, that means: Los Angeles 9PM (21:00) Tuesday Denver 10PM (22:00) Tuesday Chicago 11PM (23:00) Tuesday New York 12AM (00:00) Wednesday London 5AM (05:00) Wednesday Rome 6AM (06:00) Wednesday Istanbul 7AM (07:00) Wednesday Moscow 8AM (08:00) Wednesday Sydney 2PM (14:00) Wednesday Meanwhile, the Open Beta will begin on Monday, October 2nd at 1 p.m. Pacific. That means: Los Angeles 1PM (13:00) Monday Denver 2PM (14:00) Monday Chicago 3PM (15:00) Monday New York 4PM (16:00) Monday London 9PM (21:00) Monday Rome 10PM (22:00) Monday Istanbul 11PM (23:00) Monday Moscow 12AM (00:00) Tuesday Sydney 6AM (06:00) Tuesday Even though the title may invoke images of a mountain-climbing game, nFlavor Corp's Rappelz is actually a new fantasy MMORPG from Gala-Net, the people who brought us Flyff and Space Cowboy Online. Rappelz features a unique PvP system that emphasizes the use of creatures (pets) who fight for their master. Kinda like grown-up fantasy Pokemon. Rappelz will be free to download and free to play, and it will be likely commercialized by use of Gala-Net’s form of micro currency, GPotato for item sales in-game. |
