Dungeons and Dragons Online Module 6 - Image 1The developers of Codemaster's Dungeons & Dragons Online have given word that they are already testing some of the new features that they plan on adding in Module 6. While Module 5 focused more on game balance and bug fixes, this latest update adds more gameplay features such as a higher level cap, more spells, and new feats.

Players will be happy to know that the level cap has been increased to 16. This move opens up new spells such as Polar Ray, Sunburst, Horrid Wilting, Otto's Irresistible Dance, Greater Shout, Summon Monster VIII, Trap the Soul and Charm Monster for Wizards and Sorcerers. In addition, Clerics will now get both Mass Cure Critical Wounds and Mass Inflict Critical Wounds.

New feats have also been added to the game such as Force of Personality (Prq: Cha 13) which allows users to use the highest modifier from either the charisma or wisdom stats for Will saves and Insightful Reflexes (Prq: Int 13) which automatically chooses the higher modifier from both intelligence and dexterity when making a reflex save.

It looks like Codemasters plans to add a lot of changes to the MMORPG with Module 6. Hopefully, most of the planned additions make it into game since a lot of the features will undoubtedly be appreciated by the Dungeons & Dragons Online community.

Dungeons and Dragons Online Module 5: The Accursed Ascension notes - Image 1 The release notes for Turbine Inc's Dungeons and Dragons Online Module 5: The Accursed Ascension have been released. The previous module focused more on new content while this seems to be geared towards implementing bug fixes, resolving gameplay balance issues, as well as upgrading the game's engine a bit.

The developers have removed the /death command exploit that some players have been using. A character who uses this command will now be automatically brought back to its bindpoint upon dying. Another fix that mages and bards will really appreciate is the fact that monsters will now stop attacking if they are under the effects of a hold spell.

With regards to game balancing, the patch notes announced that temporary hitpoints from Aid and Mass Aid spells will no longer stack. In addition, invisible or hiding monsters cannot be tab or tilde selected unless a player can detect the monster with the Spot or Listen skills.

The in-game engine has been upgrade so players should be able to see a boost in the game's graphics, client performance, network performance, and even water shaders. Most of the engine bugs have also been fixed so we can expect less of the ghosting and random artifacts that would pop up every so often.

There were more changes that were implemented in the latest module which you can read up on via our Read Link below.

D&D Online: Zyrca discusses gem and collection bags - Image 1New in-game bags are slated for Turbine Inc.'s Dungeons & Dragons Online. The new items come in two flavors: collection bags and gem bags. Each one comes in three sizes which dictate how much you can stuff in it.

Each of these bags only take up one space in the inventory. The smallest bag can hold up to 12 items and can be obtained by completing a quest from Old Sully and Aida. The medium bag, on the other hand, can store up to 30 items and is available for purchase.

Finally, the large bag holds up to 80 different collectibles and as an added bonus, those who find this bag will randomly find large amounts of collectibles already put in it.

The gem bag, now, is pretty much the same as collection bags but players can stack up to 1000 gems in each slot. The small bag, can also be obtained from Old Sully and Aida, can hold six unique gems. The medium bag can store up to 12 different gems and is purchased from a NPC. Finally, the large bag holds a whopping 30 gems.

This is a pretty solid update for adventurers who like lots of little shiny objects. It's nice that the developers decided to introduce this since it finally solves the problem of players having to leave their loot behind because they don't have enough space in their inventories.

Vivox to provide voice chat in Dungeons and Dragons Insider - Image 1Gone are the days of tabletop RPGs being relegated to kitchen tables and basements. When Wizards of the Coast (WotC) introduced Dungeons and Dragons Insider, it opened up new avenues of gaming for "dice chuckers" everywhere.

In an effort to make online campaigns more convenient (and attractive) for gamers everywhere, WotC has announced that they have entered into a contract with Vivox to provide voice chat to those playing on the Dungeons and Dragons Gaming Table.

The options in the voice chat are pretty comprehensive with players being able to create private conversations, start, leave, or even rejoin ongoing conversations.

The Dungeon Master of the game will be granted full moderator controls such as muting, kicking, and banning players which should be enough to help police the players when they get out of line. In addition to all of this, on-screen indicators indicate which players are using voice channels, as well as which voice channels are currently being used. R&D Director of Dungeons and Dragons at Wizards of the Coast Bill Slavicsek had this to say about the service:

Voice is an essential component of the D&D Insider player experience. The roots of classic Dungeons and Dragons lie in the ability to play interactively with your friends, communicating openly around a table, developing characters, building the scene, laying out the adventure and communicating actions and dialog.

To recreate this experience online, we needed a voice partner with the ability to deliver a consistently high quality and reliable voice experience for our players. We also needed a company with the resources to support us during and after the integration, with a proven ability to scale to a very large online community. Vivox is well positioned to deliver on these elements and we look forward to a successful relationship.

If you're into classic table-top Dungeons and Dragons, you might want to head on over to the D&D homepage via our read link and try it out. After all, the only thing that WotC has yet to recreate is being able to punch a friend in the arm when he makes a comment about how your Rogue "always seems to get it from behind."
