XRI Cross Realm Ignore

We all hate spammers - people who flood our inbox, answering machines and other communication devices with unnecessary information or messages. Now if you are a World of Warcraft player, spams are a big issue concerning your BG channel as you are always interrupted with, as ChaosInc puts it, "flaming and/or buncha whining" from some coplayers. To remedy these sometimes really irritating scenarios, he devised a mod that'll automatically block any BS from any user. It's called XRI Cross Realm Ignore and judging from the feedback from the community, it's really a nifty app.

According to ChaosInc., quiet list should now automatically clear after every BG in XRI Cross Realm Ignore v1.6. Chatbox bug and other minor bugs have already been fixed. He also revealed some of things he is planning to add to this great WoW mod such as:
  • GUI list and options (don't expect this anytime soon, no clue how to do this yet)
  • add AutoQuiet mode (automatically enter quiet mode when entering a BG)
  • automatically add/remove players who join/leave the BG you're in while quiet mode is active
Here's the list of commands:
  • help: displays command help
  • add : adds to be ignored
  • remove: removes from ignored list
  • list (quiet): displays list of ignored people (quiet list)
  • clear (quiet): clears the ignore list (quiet list)
  • verbose: toggle verbose mode
  • quiet: ignores and filter all messages in BGs

Tabula Rasa

The idea whether aliens are real or just a figment of man's imagination has been debated over and over in our history for a long time now. That is until Tabula Rasa. As far as the universe of the said MMORPG is concerned, the alien existence is very much true and they are capable of erasing humans from Earth with their advanced technologies. We are talking about the ruthless Bane that has suddenly appeared in Earth's territory and waged a war that can totally exterminate the human populace. While it seems that there is no hope for us to match their very advanced technology, light is within our reach.

For a quick history, the Bane used to be member of the alien race Eloh, but due to a series of events that lead to the betrayal by the Thrax, the Bane broke off from the Eloh and swore they will never be fooled again. In their quest to control all the planets and all living things within them, they came across the Blue Planet we know now as Earth.

Invasion ensues and chaos immediately spread all over the planet. But just as it seems that everything's gonna be Bane waste, the Earth's remaining inhabitants were able to discover advanced technology implanted by the Elohims centuries before and used them to create portals called wormholes to escape to other planets. Along with other alien planets who were also ravaged by the Bane, they formed an unusual alliance called Army of the Allied Free Sentients.

And now dear mortal, it is your duty to defeat these monsters and get rid of the universe, evil and greed. Hence the title Tabula Rasa which means clean slate. Yes, a new life is at hand, but only for those who dare raise arms against a race that is threatening to dominate the whole universe.

Ah... Halloween. The time of the year which we really love aside from April Fools Day. The time when we can finally be "normal" and be confident when walking the streets without receiving puzzled looks from other people. When we can unleash our inner creativity with looks that seem out of this world. And hey, its comforting to know that even citizens from a world where they would wear costumes everyday also get to celebrate Halloween with us. Man, we are talking about Paragon City.

Yep, our friendly superheroes and not so friendly villains is ready to strut their style in this year's Halloween holiday. Expect a big change in the city as Unseelie court is planning to send a bunch of unwelcome fiends including werewolves and vampires to the city. This should be good news as combating monsters may be one great way to celebrate Halloween, eh? Also, this is one great time to show off what you got. Don't worry, Ravenwing Cabal from Croatoa has promised to help.

Don't forget to look for Ravenwing Cabal member Annah to give you updates once the festival commences on October 18, ok? And oh, don't forget to get yourself a copy of The Paragon Times to let you know the latest news.

Going back to the celebration, of course who would forget one of Halloween's favorite activity? Why, trick or treat-ing of course! Just to let you know, special surprises awaits both heroes and villains. So be sure to wear your greatest superhero/villain costume for the holiday and expect the unexpected. With these in mind, Halloween would surely be a kick-ass activity for Paragon City despite news of an impending threat. The festivity will last until 11:59pm EST of Oct 31.

WoW: The Burning Crusade

The new expansion for World of Warcraft offers more great surprises for WoW fans to enjoy. But beware as World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade is no place for sissies. With new zones to explore like Outland and Netherstorm, these areas are surely overrun with enemies including a new batch of monsters such as the Ogre Lords, Spore Bats and Fleshbeasts. Having pet creatures like flying mounts may also be a great advantage, considering the vast expanse of the game's areas. Outland

Lookie Lookie, we got new gameplay video for World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade! The video runs for 4:18 minutes and it features some interesting elements in the "Outland". Outland, or Draenor as it was called before, is one of the fictional zones in the Warcraft universe where Orcs, Ogres and Draenei calls "home". It has several locales, namely Hellfire Peninsula, Zangarmarsh, Nagrand, Terokkar Forest, Shadowmoon Valley, Blade's Edge Mountains and Netherstorm. One of the more interesting elements in the World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade are the mounts.

Flying mounts are one of the much anticipated form of transportation since it allows players to travel either by ground or by air, taking you places in Outland at epic mount speed. Featured here in the video is the Gryphon Alliance, but the most sought-after are the rare flying mounts like the Nether Drake. Well, to tell you guys, you can get an offspring of the Nether Drake, the Netherwhelp, in WoW: The Burning Crusade's Collector's Edition. Check out the video clip of the Outland adventure:

Outfitter UI

What better way to personalize your gaming experience at World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade than to have multiple outfits that you can equip just with a single click of a mouse? What's more, you can do it by layering several outfits together or by creating a new one to optimize a particular attribute like fire resistance. Well, Outfitter does the job and the good news is that mundocani released another update.

The changes includes an optimized inventory that improves a player's performance while shooting, and a corrected Moonkin German translation. Combat detection is now working properly for druids shifting to bear form with Furor talents. Korean fans of WoW: The Burning Crusade will be delighted to know that Cat Form for druids is now available.

The development team reported having issues with the Select All and Select None buttons. They advised to report any problems regarding the beta version. In the meantime, they also spilled some of the features that they are planning to add for future versions such as:
  • Outfit analyzer to display complete statistics for the current outfit
  • Generate outfits to maximize TankPoints or HealPoints
  • Remember which bag items originally came from so they can be returned there when unequipped
  • Tooltips for stats in the character window are enhanced to display details about how that stat affects other attributes

Douglas LowensteinFollowing the announcement of Entertainment Software Association (ESA) that the 2007 Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3Expo) will be downsized to a smaller scale as compared to E3Expo 2006, they now reveal what it's new format will be.

The new setup was envisioned to provide the gaming industry with a more intimate program. In contrast to this year's E3Expo, which featured large trade shows, E3Expo 2007 will be more focused on targeted, personalized meetings and activities, according to ESA.

And as promised, ESA recently released details on what to expect on next year's E3 event. The next show will be renamed as the E3 Media and Business Summit featuring a low-key series of event for game developers, retailers and other key figures in the gaming industry. It will be held in Santa Monica, California from July 11 to 13 and it will only be accessible thru invitations. A central meeting will be held at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica airport, complete with gaming displays and traditional "show and tell" trade show setups.

"The new E3 is first and foremost about getting business done. When we asked key audiences what they wanted in the new event, we heard that they wanted opportunities for high-level meetings in a business-like setting, to play games, network, and socialize, to see major company offerings while also preserving the sense of discovery that is so much a part of E3, and to hear substantive presentations on the most important issues and trends facing the industry," said Douglas Lowenstein, President of ESA.

Gaming showcases, daily luncheon with industry leaders, and the "Into The Pixel" videogame art competition and exhibition will also be expected in E3Expo 2007. With the event being an invitation-only, the general public would not be able to stop by and check out the activities. With this, Lowenstein said that gaming has already entered the mainstream culture and a big event in order to draw attention is not necessary anymore.

Looking back at Warcraft III: The Reign of Chaos, the blood elves' capital suffered massive damages when Arthras and the Scourge tore the city down during the Third War. After all the chaos and destruction have subsided, one side of Silvermoon City was restored to its former grandeur while the other half was left to crumble into ruins, thus rendering to the split-face of the City. But theres more to it than the difference in the surroundings of the two halves alone. Behind the magnificence of the other half of the city, the ruined half mirrors the dark struggle of the elves to feed their insatiable desire to master magic.
