Greetings and welcome to another action packed issue of the QJ.NET MMORPG Weekend Warrior. This was a very busy week in the MMORPG world with a number of pre-patch notes for your favorite online games being released, the halt of development for he, the unveiling of Hellgate: London's new owner, and more. So let's get down to business and start with the news this week. The developers of both Pirates of the Burning Sea and Final Fantasy 11 both gave out a sneak peek at what we can expect in the next updates for the game. In the Pirates of the Burning Sea patch 1.6 article, 11 of the 50 new boats slated for the game were revealed as well as a look at some changes with regards to ammunition. The Final Fantasy 11 update on the other hand revealed some new episodic quests.Link: Final Fantasy 11: Details for next version update unveiled Link: Pirates of the Burning Sea: Ship changes for patch 1.6 Link: Flagship Studios' Mythos on hiatus Speaking of Flagship Studios, it was also revealed that one of their IPs, Hellgate: London, was picked up by Namco Bandai. It looks like they're going full blast with this and have already opened a webpage specifically for the game on the official website. To find out more, check out the link below.Link: Namco Bandai picks up Hellgate: London Sony Online Entertainment vice president John Blakely was recently interviewed where he let slip that DC Universe Online will be grabbing the average PlayStation 3 owner's interest with its combat system. Now more traditional MMORPG players may have to play a little catch up though as it may be different from what they're used to. Link: Sony: DC Universe Online to grab PS3 owners' interest Everyone who plays RuneScape knows that the game will be getting a price increase. Well, the date of this price increase has been pushed back to allow more people to subscribe at a lower rate. Remember that if you subscribe before the cut off and don't miss a monthly payment, you can still enjoy the old subscription rate even after the increase. If you want to find out more, follow the link below.Link: RuneScape: price increase date pushed back Finally we have a study which revealed that more gamers are interested in free MMORPGs. It seems that two percent of non-MMORPG gamers were interested in subscription based games while as much as 14 percent of all these gamers would be interested in picking up an MMO if it were free. Link: Study says more gamers interested in free MMOs. Free MMORPGs have always been something close to my heart. Sure, there are times when you want to just settle down and play Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures or World of Warcraft but free games still seem to hold an allure of their own. Sure, you'll still get your share of jerks, but I've found that you can meet all kinds of interesting people. You might actually be surprised at how many new friends you'll end up with, and how often you'll find yourself playing the game. The best part of the whole deal, is that it doesn't cost you a cent. So why not try a free MMORPG and see what happens? |
