Sitting in for an interview with Gamerzines, Craig Zinkievich of Cryptic Stuio reveals that Star Trek: Online will be featuring completely different gameplays for both the ground and space sections. That's practically like getting two games in one.

The universe is immense. There are over 400 hours of Star Trek TV shows and movies out there, and almost every one of them has a new reference to an alien species or location that's someone's favourite. When we sat down, as Star Trek fans, and listed out everything that we wanted to see in Star Trek Online - it was HUGE.

He continues:

When you think about Star Trek there is no way to separate the image of the iconic starships from the away team exploring an alien landscape. We knew right off the bat that we'd have to make both the space and ground experiences. That's two games right there!

And two games you'll get, indeed, in one spacey little package. The voyage begins in February 2010, so get your space suits ready.
