While some online gaming companies have opted to join in and partner with the companies that provide "RMT" services, Sony is looking to end the practice all together. Upon receiving news that PC Gamer magazine has decided to reject all future advertising from companies that provide "RMT" (real money trade), Sony promptly placed an eye catching, full page ad of their own in the magazine congratulating them for taking a stand. PC Gamer has made a decision based upon what its staff feels is the best course of action; Sony on the other hand, is being self serving and using the situation to leverage its position (which is exactly what almost any mega -corporation would do under similar circumstances). Whether or not PC Gamer continues to places ads for companies that provide transaction services like these, the market for the services will continue to grow.
