Codemasters has announced that The Lord of the Rings Online: Shadows of Angmar has officially topped the PC sales charts across the UK today. The game has been in high demand since pre-orders went live earlier this month.

The company has also announced the fantasy MMORPG's first official update. Entitled "Book 9: Shores of Evendim", the update is scheduled for release in June. Book 9: Shores of Evendim will be totally free and will features an entirely new landscape region as well as over 60 additional quests.

A new raid called the Battle for Helegrod will also be included in Book 9: Shores of Evendim. Nine new monsters and major enhancements to Monster Play and the music system will also be making an appearance in the update. The Lord of the Rings Online: Shadows of Angmar is now available in European retail outlets.
