Yesterday, servers conked out and prevented people from logging in and enjoying Linden Lab's MMORPG, Second Life. But not to worry anymore, an official announcement has been made that this problem has been resolved. The reason behind this problem was that there were multiple issues with various ISPs. Majority of service providers have been bundling network links into large virtual links between different data centers. The bundles experienced some abnormalities causing sever packet/data loss of over 50%. In order to resolve this, the company behind the MMORPG had to force player to log out of the game so that they could pinpoint what was causing it. Players were forced to log out so that the log in problems wouldn't be causing more damage. It's a good thing that the ISPs were able to remedy the situation. Now, you guys can free roam the world of Second Life without having problems signing in. We'll keep you guys updated with the latest news on the game. |
