Artwork from Funcom's Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures - Image 1A rumor recently began regarding the possibility of in-game ad support for Funcom's upcoming Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures (PC, Xbox 360) title. However, the developers sorted out this issue by explaining that in-game ads will not be implemented in the actual game.

The rumor began when several leaked screenshots from the ongoing Age of Conan beta phase were revealed, showing the game's End User Licensing Agreement (EULA). The contents of the EULA supposedly showed details of in-game advertising that will be included in the actual game.

Funcom's product manager Erling Ellingsen busted this myth by saying: "No, Age of Conan does not feature in-game advertisement". However, he did mention that he can't predict the future of what's to come for the title and added that "there are no plans for it now".

The idea of in-game advertising in a fantasy RPG setting was a rather far-fetched idea in the first place. What we can be sure, however, is that Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures is set to be released this May 20 (barring delays) and will come with all the unique features that Ellingsen previously mentioned in his recent interview.
