NCsoft licenses Unreal Engine 3 for two new MMOs - Image 1

Apparently, it's not just Codemasters that's laying down plans for more titles. Korea-based publisher/developer NCsoft has recently announced its plans to develop two yet-to-be-named massively multiplayer online games (MMOGs).

What makes this news particularly interesting is that the both titles are expected to run on Epic Games' Unreal Engine 3. Yup - the same engine that was used in the likes of Gears of War and  Unreal Tournament III (PS3, Xbox 360, PC).

Epic VP Jay Wilbur had this to say regarding the news:

NCsoft pioneered online game development using Unreal Engine, as evidenced by Lineage II, one of the most commercially successful and enduringly popular online games in history. We are thrilled to take this next step with NCsoft, and are fully committed to supporting their projects. We expect to be completely wowed by what they do with our latest technology.

As a recap, NCSoft is using Unreal Engine 2 on their soon to be released MMO, Exteel. No other details were announced regarding the company's two mystery titles, so you may want to drop by again in case we run into any more info in the near future.
