League of Legends: Clash of Fates - Image 1The upcoming multiplayer RPG/strategy game League of Legends: Clash of Fates from indie dev and publisher Riot Games will be launching this September. For free.

Brandon Beck, Riot CEO, said in their official statement,

One of our goals at Riot has been to set a high quality bar for core games that are available for free online as we believe that a relentless focus on delivering tremendous value to online communities will earn player loyalty.

League of Legends is being built as a highly competitive core game that we believe will change many people's minds about the type and caliber of games that can be offered for free.

How will the system go exactly? In order to customize the Summoners, their characters, player will be able to spend real money, but Riot does stress that power advantages over other players won't be part of the purchase options list.

There will also be a US$ 29.99 League of Legends Collector's Pack retail option, which will include exclusive items like Champion skins, Runes, Riot Points, and Champions. If you get the pre-order bundle, you'll be getting an exclusive Champion skin as well.
