Guild Wars: The GvG Metagame focus - Image 1

If you've been keeping up with Guild Wars and are looking for every little advantage your group can have in the Automated Tournament that NCsoft implemented, then this is for you. Knowing the metagame ensures that your team is ready for the worst and most common tactics you will be encountering in the field. A recent State of the Game article discussed this in detail and gave some very useful tips for players.

First and foremost, pay attention to the map. Each tournament lists the map beforehand so you and your mates can check it out and see what team build would be advisable for it. Secondly, you have to be ready for Hex-heavy teams. More often than not, most teams prefer to field balanced parties. The theory behind a hex-heavy build is to overload an opponent's hex removing options. Eventually, they will get hexed and will suffer horribly as the melee characters rip into them with no fear of retribution.

More details on the current metagame and real in-game examples can be found via our read link.
