Yep, this is no April Fool's joke. Funcom has announced that their best-selling MMO title of 2008 will be made available as free trial right at this very moment. Thanks to Fileplanet and Ausgamers, you can now download and play Age of Conan for a total of free seven to fourteen days. That's a lot of free time, literally.

Morten Larssen, VP of Sales and Marketing of Funcom, explains this move: "The time has finally come for us to open the flood gates. There is a world of gamers out there who have never played Age of Conan and we want them to experience what hundreds of thousands of gamers have before them. The game has matured tremendously since launch, and we feel confident that this is the time to launch a trial. Age of Conan is simply bigger and better than it ever was, and we want both new and previous players alike to experience that!

Getting it in your hands is a give-away, too. Just follow the source link below, and off you go to a fun, free ride to the land of Hyboria.

Somehow, though, I cannot help but wonder if this has got anything to do with the closed down servers.

Still, it's free.

Could it be the reason why there are no servers or clients the fact that its like 15gig to download then antother 5 gig of updates?

Thats why I never played it. I dont want to wait a few weeks to download the total of 20gig just to play a game I dont think I will like anyway.

it will take a little time to get use to this interface, but I think I can manage..
Well if you say so, but I am not sure most people would agree...I mean if you really think about it.
