How are raid dungeons designed in WoW? - Image 1

Have you ever wondered how raid dungeons in World of Warcraft are designed? A question was posed on the official WoW Europe forums by Agnadar regarding this and how the developers balance them out in terms of gameplay, party selection, and most importantly equips.

The really long post was pretty much the same size of Azeroth itself that would horrify all save for those who are really interested in the topic. Blizzard's forum moderator Vaneras replied to this post by dissecting the questions and addressing each point that was made.

Apparently, the assumptions that were made by the players weren't too far from the steps that were really being done by Blizzard. One point specifically caught our attention, and it was pretty much the summary of the entire topic. Player Aasi explained,

There can't be any set amount of +healing required for any instance (unless there is very specific encounter). Raid composition can be so different. How many healers you got? Which classes? How well geared your tanks are? How is your dps doing?

How skillful and experienced your raid members are to get best out of your characters and team work? Even if you know these parameters, giving out any exact requirement is hard. If you don't like pulling numbers out of your bum, that is.

Vaneras concurred with this thought saying "My words exactly... I should have posted this instead of the wall of text that I posted above".

Now that you have an idea what developers take into consideration when designing raid instances, perhaps it might be good to do a little research before going out on your next raid to see if you can find a way to make it easier for you.

If you want to check out the post and the full explanation of Vaneras, be sure to head over to the WoW Europe forums through our Read link.
