GM of EA Mythic says Warhammer won't be a WoW Killer - Image 1Electronic Arts (EA) Mythic General Manager Mark Jacobs has said that their upcoming Warhammer: The Age of Reckoning won't be a World of Warcraft killer in a recent interview conducted by WarCry network at the Austin Game Developers Conference.

His statement isn't a case of false humility, but an honest assessment of the current MMORPG situation and the strength of their biggest competitor. He pointed out that a lot of the companies today often lose sight of what is reality and what is hype.

According to him the game developers need to realize that they have an emotional attachment to their creation, making them end up believing that it is the best thing. He reminded everyone though that it's the consumers (who will ultimately decide if the game succeeds) may see it differently.

Does this mean that  Jacobs believes their creation will be a flop? Far from it. He said in no uncertain terms that he would be rather upset if they didn't hit the top two slot quickly. Slated to be released in the first Quarter of next year, we'll see how quickly this game rises up the ranks of the MMORPGs.
