The above pictures (click thumbnails) are floor plans of how E3 2006 will be set up this year. It shows approximately how much the companies will be showcasing this year, and for those attending the event, it shows where you should be rushing to so you can see your favourite company first thing in the morning!

The largest booths at the event seem to be Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft - the major hardware manufacturers. Microsoft will likely have a huge section dedicated to the Xbox 360 and a small portion for Windows games. Xbox will likely be a no-show. Sony will probably be giving equal treatment to the PS3, PS2, and PSP. Although it may try to take attention away from the PS3 if it's not ready yet. Nintendo has four systems to juggle with the Revolution, DS, GBA, and GCN. Don't expect much from the GCN at all except for Zelda and maybe the rumoured Kirby game. The GBA should also be relatively dead unless they announce a North American release for Mother 3. They will be focusing on the DS and Revolution for sure.

Although Nintendo's booth seems biggest, they have cut off part of their booth the past two years for special displays for key attractions like the Nintendo DS and The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. The lines for Twilight Princess last year looped around their entire booth and was approximately four hours long. Hopefully, they won't have those kinds of lines this year for the Revolution or Playstation 3, which everybody wants a crack at. Microsoft seems to be in the South Hall, separate from the West Hall console manufacturers.

Stay with QJ during E3 in a couple of weeks for up-to-the-minute updates on everything.

i wish i was going.i WONDER IF JOHNNY XTREME will be there. that wasa jokes at last years. I wonder if brendan meran will go the kentia hall again and steal the buns. That was funny. I doubt that the 360 will get a lot of attention since the hype is gone. The 360 was weak anyway isay that the rev will own E3. I hope the rev beats out the ***** xbox 360. It should that would be funny.

Lmao.. Nokia Ngage booth

I doubt the X360 will attract too much interest... The crowds will be at the Sony and Nintendo booths. Hopefully we'll see:
- The new PS3 controller
- Final console design and price for PS3 and Revo
- The Revo and PS3 being played
- The Revo's real name
- The GPS and camera for the PSP
- GTA PSP 2 (If Take 2 or R* are there)

Bungie is a part of Microsoft Game Studios. So is Rare. So they'll both be showcasing games in Microsoft's booth.

 » Scaling

Though the Microsoft booth might seem smaller than the Sony or Nintendo booths, it would seem that the floorplan for the South Hall is scaled differently than that of the West Hall... thus, Microsoft's booth might not be too small in comparison to Sony's or Nintendo's...

But they already released their console. They probably don't need too much space to showcase their games.

The Hall MS is in is scaled down
but 360 will draw less crowd only because it is already out, we don't need an E3 to play it. I look most forward to seeing what the rev can do tho.

 » whoah

It's interesting that Nintendo's booth is right next to Sony's. There's going to be a lot of competition around that area---it's going to be really crowded over there for sure.

» Take attn away from PS3?

Why would Sony want to take any attention away from the PS3 even if it's not "ready". It's got to be "more ready" than it was last year, wouldn't you think? They had a decent amount of info then and should have a lot more now.

This should be the last E3 before the PS3 launches, so it's going to be the last major show that I'm aware of before launch (except maybe Comdex? I'm not sure when/where that show is). I think Sony is aware of the growing skepticism with their new toy and their recent company policies, in general, so they're going to want to use this chance to draw some attention away from all the negative hype they've been getting. This is their chance for some serious sales work. I think a bad E3 showing of the PS3 could serious erode potential customer's view of the PS3. If the PS3 turns out to be as expensive as it has been suggested, people are going to want some confidence that their shiny new system is going to be around for a while to make their investment worthwhile. A weak showing at this E3 would make me believe that Sony themselves doesn't have much confidence in the system. If they don't, why should I? Sony's been losing money out the butt lately, and even recently went through a major restructuring. I don't think they can't afford to mess up too badly on this one. I'd wager that the PS3 will be getting the lion's share of the loving this year.

The PSP will likely have significant coverage, too, though I'd bet it'll be much less than PS3. They'll want to make official announcements re: upcoming features to be added to the PSP. Nothing official has been announced here in the US yet, regarding any firmware updates or the GPS or camera accessories. There are some big game titles coming over the next year or so, that I'm sure they'll want to talk up.

The PS2 will likely barely make a blip on anyone's radar. Most of the big franchise titles are probably already in development for the PS3 so they'll be ready at or near launch. Sony's going to need some blockbuster titles to sell their expensive new box. The PSP was lacking the "must have" titles at launch, I think that has partly stunted it's growth. Imagine how many PSP's they'd sell if a Final Fantasy title was released for it! Perhaps, if we're lucky, FF7 will make an appearance if/when the PSOne emulator is released. I'd like to see how many people buy a PSP just for that alone.
