Disney has given out an update regarding it's Pirates of the Caribbean-themed MMORPG, originally announced last year. It has been pushed back from Summer '06 to 2007, but will be shown at Disney's booth at the upcoming E3.

In Pirates of the Caribbean Online, players will create their own custom pirate character, sail the Caribbean seas with a crew of sailors, and interact with popular characters from the movies, like Jack Sparrow and Will Turner. Although nothing specific is known yet, the game will most likely require monthly subscription fees.

If you can't wait 'till next year to fight it out on the high sea with your friends, I suggest you take a look at the similarly focused Pirates of the Burning Sea, which is making good progress and looks like it might be out 'n playable a whole lot sooner.
