According to Laroche over at the DAoC site, this downtime will serve give the devs time to update the house repossession system. The downtime is expected to last from 6:00 a.m. EST to 6:00 p.m. EST, so you may want to reschedule any adventures you had planned for the day.

Look on the bright side - the 12-hour downtime should give you plenty of time for other equally important matters such as finishing the chores, catching up on your reading, or even good walk. Drop by again in case more updates are announced regarding this matter.
