Wolverine from Cryptic Studios' Marvel Universe Online - Image 1It's no surprise that Cryptic Studios next project will have another superhero theme thrown into it. Considering that they were the original developers of NCsoft's City of Heroes and the now defunct Marvel Universe Online MMO titles, it's no wonder that it decided to capitalize on its strength as an MMO developer by working on another title with the same theme.

The new MMO game's details were revealed in a sneak peek of the upcoming issue of Game Informer magazine. Entitled Champions Online, it will allow players to choose between either a character or villain character.

It was also revealed that the new game will be also released for "consoles" as well as the PC. While this seems suspiciously similar to Cryptic Studios own plans for Marvel Universe Online, perhaps this was their own way of reviving the already dead project sans the comic licensing from Marvel.

It's still unsure which console platforms Champions Online will be released on. However, it's sure that NCsoft's City of Heroes will have a new MMO archnemesis once the game goes live.
