While a bunch of lucky gamers get to be in Japan this weekend for the Tokyo Game Show, that doesn't mean there's nothing else interesting in our own backyards. Blizzard is reminding everyone that BlizzCon 2008 will be opening its gates this Friday, October 10.

Square Enix is offering a new item from their Final Fantasy XI Players' Collection. Called the Tidal Talisman, this little showpiece has a corresponding in-game item which you'll receive when you purchase the item. A must have for die-hard FF fans. I'd buy it myself, but only if it summoned Leviathan.

To a degree, games like Monster Hunter Portable and Valhalla Knights already somewhat overlap into the circle of MMO games.
