No phoenix down for you. - Image 1

We've always believed that earning your share (or loot, in this case) is always best when done in a fair manner. Well, the admin of Square Enix's MMORPG spin-off Final Fantasy XI thinks so, too, so as a way to keep the game's economy balanced and to give everyone their due, it has recently decided to ban more than 6100 accounts.

These banned accounts were removed for reasons that vary, from using speed hacks, third-party tools, and cheats, as well as for engaging in Real Money Trading, or other activity related to RMT. With these accounts gone, around 17.2 billion's worth of in-game gil went with them and have been dropped from circulation.

Tsk tsk. And no, no phoenix down for cheaters.

 » I still won't go back...

I left the game about a year ago. I won't be going back. though I did visit during the 360 test. that was pretty nice. Everything was still affordable. But the amount of asshats were growing by leaps and bounds.
It was also nice to be able to go to spots where rare items dropped and find nobody there.

If they would have kept that server for 360 users instead of blending us in with the general population then I may have transferred my account. But the thought of camping for weeks in real life to afford food or weapons just didn't appeal to me.

 » not old news

This is definitely not old news. It just happened yesterday. SE's been having quite a few purges recently. I'm eager to see the notorious names among the banlist :P
